hiya! tonight being el-cheapo movie night, and me being el-cheapo, we went to see a movie. i would've liked to have seen ali, but it's not playing in theatres anymore. also wanted to see count of monte cristo, but that was a no-go either. so i went with the girls to see amélie. a friend at work and also my sister both said it was a GREAT movie and that it was really funny. it WAS funny!! it might be a bit of a chick flick, but i think guys would find it funny too (the part in the sex-shop was interesting...). it's in french with subtitles, but it's not like anyone who's grown up in ottawa doesn't know french, and it's not like any of us can't read. besides, it's just like watching anime! i'm not sure exactly what about it is so appealing, but the humour is definitely unique. it's silly yet believable!
i saw it at the world exchange in one of the smaller theatres, so we were worried that tall ppl would sit in front of us and we wouldn't be able to read the subtitles like when some super tall dude sat in front of me in crouching tiger (grr, i understand less mandarin than french!). but hey, it's cheap at world exchange and we got free 3-hour parking!
it's definitely worth watching!
