i've discovered that timmy's french vanilla cappucino is like a magic elixir! after downing an extra-large last night before coming home to study, i ended up pretty alert until about 4, when i gave up cramming and went to bed (not that i was all that tired). i woke up at 10ish, and was wide awake, feeling like i had a great night's sleep! wowee, i should drink more coffee before going to bed from now on!!
on my way to school this morning, i remembered what i thought was funny but couldn't remember. it was raining at a fairly good clip yesterday, and it got heavier as the day went on. when john drove me home, we drove by the pretty new apartment building by my house, and he drew my attention to the lawn of the condo's. the sprinklers were on!! we figure they're on a timer system, but all the same, it seemed pretty silly to be drowning the grass and shrubs when they've already been soaked all day! in any case, we found this to be quite amusing, altho when i told vincent today he didn't seem to think it was so funny, so it might be a "you had to be there" kinda funny.
went to japanese class, and the first thing i said to sensei when i walked in was, "sensei, can i present on tuesday instead?! i have a midterm at 2:30!" and she said, "okay!" well, that was easy enough! stayed for about half of japanese class, which was quite the giggle. byron (aka "casper") and i just kept making fun of ppl. we learned how to make suggestions and give advice today, so in one example, sensei said, "ritsuko (our TA) wants to find a job." casper whispered his suggestion of: "go back to japan." sensei asked me what company i think ritsuko should apply to, and i said "ma-ku-do-na-ru-do..." this giving advice stuff is getting to be quite fun, especially when we can make up crazy answers! too bad i had to leave early tho, cuz i had that awful midterm to write!
went and wrote the midterm. it's a toss-up. the stuff i thought would be on it wasn't worth much of the exam, but i'm pretty sure i nailed the section where we had to analyze swahili (which was worth 19/45). after that i chilled around campus and hung out with various people. helped randy with his assignment which was always the pleasure. : P went to kcf, which was always a joy, and then vincent, ellia, and i went for some yummy yummy pho. mmmm.... we had quite the laugh when ellia tried to guess who vincent is interested in, cuz ellia made quite the peculiar guess. walking down somerset, we laughed from about bronson all the way to bank street, that's how good (or bad) the guess was!
came home, got a message from joelle at work that she needs my help with the ottawa economics association luncheon tomorrow. in other words, i have to dress nice tomorrow - no jeans! in case it's somewhat warm, i made preparations to wear a skirt if i could (translation: shaved LEGS). i also talked to kasmo for a while and tried to make plans for her visit next week! whee, i'm so excited!! at about 12:45am, tiz called cuz he woke up and couldn't sleep anymore (6:45 his time), so i talked to him for a while. and yeah, that's about it. a long way of saying that it was a fairly normal thursday.
