*phew* my 3-day 3-exam run is finally over.
marketing turned out to be okay, studied all day in the FREAKIN' hot library...get this. apparently the library has exceeded its *air conditioning* budget for the year, and so now they can't afford to turn on the ac until may 15! isn't that the most retarded thing?? anyway, the boys studied 240 (which sounds frickin' hard and now i'm scared to take it) while i studied marketing. the exam was ok, altho i know i would've done oodles better had i actually read the book right up until the exam as opposed to reading 5 chapters a week before and just skimming thru the other 5. oh well, i think i did well enough and with my mark going in, i'm not too worried.
after that i came home and pretty much just crashed. would've stayed up to cram for psych, but my body couldn't take staying up any longer.

woke up around 6, but stayed in bed to see if i could sleep any more (but i suppose 7 hours was plenty). it was kinda neat experiencing my first earthquake! i was lying in bed, and then things started shaking. i just thought a big truck was going by or something, but things just kept shaking....and then things started shaking a little harder...i thought about getting up to either tell my family or stand under a doorway...but both would've required that i get out of bed, so that idea got nixed. it only lasted about 20 seconds anyway (altho it feels pretty long when you're thinkin' "oh my, it's an earthquake!"). anyway, i woke up sometime after that, and studied some psych questions from the study guide. went to school, crammed some more, and figured i was ready. a 2.5 hour exam took me about 45 minutes to write, woohoo! sweeet.

so yes, most of my crazy stress should now be able to go away. i've got a cold too tho. after the wonderful weather we've been having, i thought it could be alleries, but alas. waking up with nose crusties (sorry to be so graphic) means that i'm sick. darnit. i guess i should've seen it coming. especially since i had to learn (for today) that normally, the B-cells in your body slime up all the antigens so that macrophages can munch up anything that's slimed...but when you're stressed (as i very much am), your immune system can't handle it all, so you're susceptible to getting sick. that and köttbullar is sick too, and since we are pretty much one and the same person....it figures that i get sick. blah.

in the birthday file for today: shouts out to sam "itch/pinkshirts=britney/soapynoodlewater/saturncansmokeyou/frozenflowerboxers/frozenbeanieturtle/icanonlyplaysmellycat/geen-geen/mule(muel)/something'swrongwithherface/bicpenpickpocket/iwantglasseslikezet's" mo, who is finally 20. woohoo. i could go much longer with the nicknames/inside jokes, but it's getting a little silly. : ) btw, notice half of those are MIB99 jokes...i miss those guys a lot lately. :*(

went to school at noon yesterday, crammed until 7, when i did macro final last night. frickin' hot in southam, man, my butt was totally sticking to the chair, yuk.
came home, ate, talked to espressoman briefly, and went to sleep. forget marketing. woke up at like, 6:30 for no apparent reason, and now i'm tired. i feel a little better than i did last night, when either allergies or a cold was seeming to get the better of me. i don't feel so congested right now so it's prolly allergies. a good dose of claritin will hopefully do something about that. sleep might help too, but i can't afford that right now.
marketing final tonight, followed by pscyh final saturday afternoon. no blogs for the next few days.

happy birthday to boogie..... you'll excuse me if i haven't gotten the chance to get you anything yet and if i can't see you for the next few days. last year's surprise visit to geek central is going to be hard to beat. : )
"turdie, i wanna play with the geese!!"
"did you say geese, or geeks?"
"well, i'm already hanging out with you, aren't i?"
"geese it is!"

i forget what day it is anymore. i believe wednesday has just started. that means it must've been early tuesday morning that i went blading along the QE side of the canal, since the colonel by side proved to be a bust the day before. i went around 9:30, and headed towards dow's lake armed with 2 slices of bread for the ducks. went all the way to the pavilion and turned around, and just around the bronson bridge, who did i see but my one-and-only buddy running my way! he told me to go home and study. i headed north, but stopped for a bit to feed a duck (the stupid seagulls kept taking all the bread!). by then, toshio caught up to me, and asked why i was feeding seagulls, doh. so he and i and this other guy that toshio did not introduce me to ran/bladed until i got to my bridge and decided that i wouldn't finish the canal today. it was hot and muggy and ikky.

i took a nap around 2 and woke up at 4 when someone called...and my room was really hot! it was so humid that the air was heavy and hard to breathe! just think: it was snowing 2 weeks ago, and now we're breaking heat records! i said it before and i'll say it again, mother nature is on crack. after that, i wanted to sleep more, but it was too hot, so i went to the basement to sleep, where it was actually cold! nice... i kept having these weird dreams about these aliens that abduct people, and they have this crazy ability to see red objects, so you could easily hide from them as long as you weren't wearing red....maybe the cold wasn't so good after all.

i just read something that made me remember something... when i was in UK last summer, i was talking to a good friend of mine. she was telling me how for about 2 weeks, she was starting to feel very alone, neglected, and taken for granted. she felt so crummy that she eventually talked to her pastor about it, who imparted some sage advice. incidentally, i think pasta rob is one of the smartest and most wizzened people i've ever met (in spite of the fact that he still prolly can't remember my name). basically, he told her that loneliness is how God brings you back to Him. when you're lonely, what do you do? search out friends...who may not always seem to quite be there when you are feeling the crummiest. you might even cry, and ask God why He's made you feel so miserable. He will always be there when you're feeling crummy (and good, for that matter). and sometimes i think there's nothing like a good bout of misery to make you realize that you might not have been spending as much quality time as you should've been. that's just 1ø of the day.

here's my other 1ø. in the past few weeks, i've been starting to think where i'm going. the school year is almost at an end (but yet not quite soon enough, as i still have all 5 exams to write). am i gonna stick it out in econ? or am i gonna take the plunge and switch majors? to WHAT? been thinkin' about BC a bit, but i should prolly just finish undergrad and go tyndale or something. briercrest is just way too far, unless my sis really does keep her job for the next 5 years. or should i do my masters? industrial relations sounds like it would suit me. so many options...and yet in the midst of all these educational dilemmas, i realize that i haven't thought about the dream that i wanted. i realized that i haven't even talked to UK ppl in months! and the other day, i actually got to talk to phill for about a half hour or so. we talked and laughed. it was nice. then i called spider cuz i haven't talked to him since february. we ended up talking for over 2 hours, i think. that was downright hilarious, cuz i think i learned a few things (that i prolly didn't need to know). and then the other day kalun put up photo albums. i know i was only in cardiff for a few days, but looking at the pics i was like, "ahh! it's mark "are you married?" nam! heehee, adrian "about the biggest chinese guy i ever met"!! hey, it's kobe, and what is that horridly-unhealthy-looking individually-prepackaged hotdog he's eating? ...so those are tim's scottish cousins.... what is kiet doing with that flower?" in any case, it was nice looking at them. all this in a few days. made me realize how much i miss those batty brits. so for all you nutty newcastlers, crazy cardiffers (caerdydd'ers), and the one-and-only LUSH bristolian (who was entered into a contest by a friend and he could WIN if only he could say how far bristol was from sheffield!!).......i miss you guys. a lot. y'all haven't seen the last of me!! i haven't gotten outta your country for good!

such has been a day in the life of zet.

i think it's tuesday now. someone please correct me if i'm wrong. after blading at about 10am (and discovering that the colonel by canal path has been torn up for reconstruction from about dow's lake to hog's back), i came home, showered, ate lunch, and slept. for the "night" (translation from 2pm til whenever it was that i woke up). i'm REALLY backwards now.

when i woke up, i called whalen to say happy birthday, called my sister and talked for a lil' bit, and then read the news. i think i'm close to getting stanley cup fever too, especially with 3 canadian teams in the eastern conference! an article on globeandmail.com was saying how cbc is having a tough time figuring out how to air the games, and for some it'll have to be split regionally. good thing i live in ottawa and i have the option of watching the canadiens' game in french! i thought it was funny tho, that if montreal, ottawa, and toronto all make game 7 of the first round, all 3 games will be played at the same time on the same day. cbc will really be in a pickle then!

in other news, whoopi goldberg is leaving hollywood squares. oh no!! next thing you know, bob barker, pat sajak, and (heaven forbid) alex "just the way your mother likes it" trebek will be leaving their posts as well.

that said, it's either time to re-watch my snl spoofs or hit the macro books. can anyone explain to me how expectations of inflation affect about 6 different graphs in about 8 different ways? :*(

goodness, my sleeping patterns are very messed up. it's now 9:30am and i think it's monday...i haven't slept all night. but on the bright side, i did a bang-up job on the cd covers! it's a beautiful morning, very nice and warm. i wanted to go blading earlier, but the ground was a bit wet. it's dried up a bit now, so maybe i'll go for a bit along the canal.
aside from that, nothing on the slate for today except for more studying.

shouts out to whalen goh-goh...happy birthday! : )

Sunday, April 14, 2002

well, i had a good few days. after NOT sleeping all night, i went to work yesterday and was surprisingly awake for the whole day. in fact, since i was awake so *early* i almost thought about going and rollerblading or jogging or something. can you believe it? i MUST have been lacking sleep...goodness, i wanted to go JOGGING! at 6am!! thank goodness i managed to snuggle up in bed and wiat til that delusion went away... anyway, some of the best news of the day is that it started to rain when i got off work. i just thought "HA! PINK shirt...take THAT, mother nature!" and laughed to myself as i waited for the bus. rockie and normie, stop laughing. i "took a nap" around 7pm and basically didn't wake up til 7am this morning.

waking up so early, i stayed up (instead of sleeping til 2), ate some breakfast, and then dashed off to the itv lounge to beat the mob. in fact, there was already a mob waiting for it to open... watched a psych lecture (i'm all done now, yay!) and a religion lecture (1 1/2 more to go!), snoozed off for a bit of religion, and figured i had enough for the day. dropped some notes off, and then took the train to south keys to run some errands. NONE of the pictures we took at the kcf dinner turned out, serves me right for buying the most el-cheapo camera without realizing it had NO flash! doh! guess i'll have to rely on catherine's... i'll just colour copy 'em at work, hehe. spent a whack of cash at wal-mart, as usual. but i got a great deal on claritin! $20 for 48 pills...that'll last me for a month and a half! bought a few other neccessities, and went home and nearly died. i was so tired that i just fell asleep (again) and woke up a few hours later and now i'm prolly gonna be up all night again. *sigh* just when i think my sleeping's gonna straighten out....

oh, and on another note, back to friday. after a pretty crummy day at work (being brain-dead, working overtime, having to be nice to puddy, stupid person calling the wrong number over and over and over, raining on my *pink* shirt...etc.), i came home, and there was a big box sitting on my couch. wheee, i finally got my *birthday present* from tiz. fie on those swedish postal people who said it would be 3-4 days...try 3 weeks! anyway, i ran up to my room to tear it open! FOUR packages of candy that i just can't describe in writing, you'd have to try it to know what it was like. if you're lucky maybe i'll let you have one, they're interesting! kinda marshmallowy, with the texture of chewed-up gum. in fact, they kinda look like wads of old gum altho they're supposed to looks like cars and trucks. :) also an incredibly soft lil' teddy bear who's a little cutie and will now fight for space in the corner of my bed with franklin the turdle and the cookie monster with the devilish laugh and epileptic spasms (no offence rockie). so yay, that definitely cheered up my crummy friday! shouts out to meatball for making ME laugh on a day that just seemed pretty yukky. ; )
i'm out, gotta hit the books. *sigh*.....
