An outlet for frustration, bursts of love, and outright crazyness!

hmmm. john's got me thinking lately. he's decided that he's going to force me into sticking to a budget starting in...2 days. i'm not to spend more than $250/month until summer rolls along. now, some of you might read that and think no problem! but whack off my phone and internet, and i'm left with only $150, which rob so kindly pointed out is about $5/day. looks like i'm going to have to cut down on my coffee consumption, and there go all my trips to wal-mart, chapters, and the malls.

and, in order to make me stick to my budget, john's declared that if i go over my budget, HE is going to pay the difference in my spending. altho i've gotten suggestions to teach him a lesson by buying a new laptop next week and maybe a used car next month, it's definitely incentive to stick to my budget 'cuz i obviously don't want his money. it rather amuses me how different ppl have different reactions when they hear about my budget constraints. some friends were like, "eee...that's a good way to make you stay under budget..." while others had a reaction more like, "well, aren't YOU a lucky girl!!"

he thinks i spend too much and that i'm not really living "the student life." i haven't had to scrimp & save just to get by, i haven't had to eat KD for a while just to make it 'til the next grocery trip, and i certainly don't need to eat ramen cuz i can't afford to buy food. i buy the clothes that i like (but like, always on sale!), i go out to eat whenever i like, and when my mom's gone i like to have ppl over for dinner. so, it seems that food is a major expense for me. but the way i see it, going out for food is more an investment in time than money. i went out for bubble tea with chung last week, and it wasn't about the tea at all! we spent time together that was definitely worth the cost of some teas, and we've come out of it richer with memories and laughter (family portrait...*touch nose*). sometimes i like to go out with the kim brothers and meet on elgin for a late night heart attack...those are definitely never just about the poutines! and sunday JOOKS!! c'mon, 'nuff said right there!

but alas. necessity forces me to comply with this imposed budget. i can no longer afford to live a splurging lifestyle funded by osap. i guess i have to start looking forward and think about how much money i'll need to save once i'm done school. *sigh* so if i back out of a few dinners out and maybe miss a few jook dates, you'll know why.

on that note, my mom'll be back in about a week. who wants to skip fellowship lunch and have jook at my house this sunday?
not much has happened lately except that last weekend we went to montreal with a whole buncha other ppl for my friend sean's wedding. they got engaged i think in november and got married january 24th. quick engagement, eh? well, we all did a whack load of grunt work, but in the end, it turned out pretty good. it was their day and i hope they enjoyed it!

that's basically been it. had kcf over for dinner last thursday, and some other friends over yesterday. made a yum yum pork roast! mmm... i think i consider my cooking healthy. especially after i read this article...GROSS!!
