i will try to make this short and sweet. my computer is down. i think the switch isn't working. it won't turn ON, however, upon removing the casing and whatever else, i find that there is a green LED that is LIT on the board. therefore, power is somehow getting to it. must fix switch. must learn to fix switch. anyone who knows how to fix switches and is able to replace my switch will earn my eternal gratitude (well, at least for a week or two and i'll treat you to the next meal we eat together).

thursday, stupid poopy wakes me up at freakin' 8am to tell me the computer's not working. i ask if he desperately needs his email and he says no. so WHY do you need to tell me at 8 freakin' AM?! grr. went to japanese class (woke up too late for another jap history class), ran to the bookstore to buy the 3rd last book. proceeded to be peer pressured into skipping lang analysis by norm's brother rob and his friend byron, so we went to chinatown to eat. went back to school and went to a certification meeting with jina. left jina at the meeting cuz i had to go start kcf, which was really cool cuz this girl sunmi came. she never had time to come before, but she said she really liked it and she's gonna try to come more often now! yay, she and i seem to be very alike in the way we perceive things, and even things we're interested in. yay! how cool! went home, messed around with the computer, gave up, and went to bed.

friday, woke up, went to work, worked late, then went straight to school for a group meeting. half my group seems pretty cool, the other half not-so-cool. grrr. when i went to billings on my way home, i found i'd missed my bus, so i went to visit john at work. he and his coworker (also john) were taking their sweet time stocking pop on shelves. in fact, they were making football passes in aisle 10 with 12paks of coke. joanna called me while i was there, but i'd just asked john if he wanted to do something. so later, the 3 of us ended up going to denny's for ice cream. sweet, succulent, ice cream. strawberry sundae, mmm... they had fun at my expense...do i really know EVERYone?! i don't think so...(those of that say otherwise, please refrain from leaving comments about this matter). came home, tried the computer again, and blah.

i am now on my super slow old P133 for lack of any better options. i desperately needed to check emails regarding the joint kcf retreat between queen's and carleton. seems that the lady booked another rental because she hadn't heard from me. this puts a HUUUUUUUGE unbelievably big(ger) kink in our already messed up plans. RAAAARGH.

some personal notes...
hunney, yes, bunny is gay. pho is just how john described it. very yummy. i will take kasmo for pho and she can tell you all about it when she gets back, okay? :)

son, YAY IPA (that rhymes, man!). isn't *schwa* a funny word? you coming back for turkey weekend? i'll have to come back to ccco if you are. book me now, the weekend is filling up fast. that sunday, i'm already booked to have dimsum with normie and john.

john, i can't believe you finally commented! and i'd reply to your email, but it'd take too long to do so. so in answer to your email, no, i don't fall when i rollerblade. i've fallen i think maybe twice. ever. and the road rash wasn't as bad as aimon's (it was because of freshly paved asphault - it's soft and basically makes you stop when you expect to be going full speed). we're only talking about blading accidents, right? cuz biking, i've got a doozy of a story.

i hope this blog was entertaining (?!?!?) enough to last you for a few days, because i think it will have to. i've got 10 hours/month dialup access to my sympatico account, and this computer is so slow it's frustrating. so yes, if you see that i haven't been online lately and i haven't blogged in a while, it's because MY COMPUTER IS DOWN. i am OKAY...no need to make long-d calls from other countries to see if i'm okay because i haven't been online in 3 days!! *ahem*....i was feelin' all special when jack called me in march from washington...i was like, "wow, jack NEVER calls me to say hi!!" and then he's like, "yeah, are you okay?!" yeesh...no such thing as being able to go outta town without staying in touch these days, huh? man, that burst my *special* bubble pretty quick....and the *loser* bubble quickly inflated....doh. off to bed now... can't stand this computer anymore.

referring to the multitude of comments from yesterday's blog, i would like to say that boys are silly. or rather, YOU boys are silly. so is sonja for "inadvertantly" starting a marker war, but that's expected. teehee. good thing those markers wash off the skin really nicely!

so my day started with my horridly early linguistics class. interesting, we started to learn the international phonetic alphabet (IPA) and ...yeah. went to see my academic advisor, and came to the conclusion that since i did ask my 2nd year profs and they didn't say anything, as long as they send an email to my advisor saying it's okay, i'm SAFE! woohoo!! came home, ate a bit and took a 2-hour nap. that felt good. went back to school for phonetics class, which was interesting, but incredibly boring at the same time. i'm not sure how they work together, but they do. it probably wasn't a good idea to be snacking on cheese & crackers in a phonetics class; it's much like chewing gum in music class, esp if you play a woodwind or brass. it's kinda hard to practice the sounds and stuff if your mouth is full. after class, it started raining a bit, so i whined enough that john came to pick me up, teehee. he actually offered before i had to ask, which was very nice of him!

we were early for wings, and since john had been complaining about never having been in my house, we went to chill for a bit. gave him the grand tour (?!?) and showed him zillions of pictures. he was fascinated by my ol' rabbit and my kid pictures. he went through ALL my pictures from like, the last 7 years, and even threatened to steal one of the ones that he wasn't even supposed to see! EEK...remind me to hide those pictures so they never see the light of day again. we were late going to pick normie up, because john was so enthralled by the pictures, but we eventually made it to the pump and just chilled with everyone else. we'd decided that we were sick of wings and that we were gonna go for pho after. before we even got into the pump, everyone was outside for a smoke break, so we chatted. bunny actually came out, which was nice. he informed me that we were seated near some really hot guys, so when we went in, he pointed out the one he had his eye on. meh, he was okay, but two of the other guys were kinda cute too. john made a scene about me checking the guys out, for which i later gave him a shot in the arm. it wasn't as bad as later, when it was just the girls and john (all the other boys had gone for another break), and john was yelling really loud about how erica thought the redhead was cute. it was so embarrassing that it was funny! soon after, john, normie, and i went for our pho and then went home. john couldn't decide who to drop off first, so he nearly ran into a sign. if he went with the left fork, he would've gone on the 417 and taken norm home. if he went with the right fork, he would've just taken me home. he couldn't decide, so he just drove straight until norm screamed "SUZETTE!" and john quickly swerved right to take me home. i think he was about a meter or two from the sign....yeesh...next time i think it'd be safer if we flipped a coin.

all's well that ends well on a wednesday typical of zet.

what a paradoxical day. i feel like i accomplished so much yet so little. i kinda woke up a bit late today by accident, so there went japanese history again. bummer. well, i figure it's easier to skip classes in the first term of it because i already took asian studies in high school, and i heard a lot of this stuff before. also when he explains cultural aspects of japan, i've heard enough of that already too. in the middle of my snoozing, my academic advisor called and said she had time to see me, so i hopped outta bed and went running off.

turns out she doesn't know whether or not i'll be deregistered from my 2nd year courses. my concern is that because i'm taking the prerequisite concurrently, they'll kick me outta those courses before i know it. and i only realized there was a problem with what i was doing when someone in my class said he tried the same thing last year and got deregistered. so my advisor doesn't know, but she said she'd check on it and i'm gonna go see her tomorrow to see what's up.

after that, i ran to the library to print off some kcf documents. i was missing ONE signature from the things i had to hand in (you need 10 students to sign to be a club), so i went to unicentre in hopes of finding someone. i ran into a guy i knew at unicentre who works at carleton and was on his lunch break. however, he's taking now taking courses, so technically he's a student too! for once knowing "everyone" came in handy! so i ran up to the 2nd floor to hand in the certification documents (of course, today's the deadline), and bought an iced tea because i needed to break a $20 for the next thing i accomplished....

i was right on time to meet some guy that i was buying my japanese history textbook and course notes off of. turns out the guy bought the books and then dropped the class cuz the prof was SO boring. i feel sorry for him (coursepaks are non-returnable and the textbook was shrinkwrapped and also non-refundable), but at the same time, woohoo for me! and plus the guy was kinda cute. ; ) ran off to japanese class, where we were supposed to have a huge quiz that i didn't particularly study for. sensei forgot the quiz in her office, so we had a dictation instead, and if anything, i only spelled "kyoto" wrong. so i'm pretty sure that i did very well. language analysis class was a al;sdnfdlf as always. chilled at the unicentre for a lil' bit before going home.

bob pulled out this old photo album of trung's from grade 7 or 8. kenny found it in his garage, and i'm not sure what trung's pictures were doing at kenny's, but oh well. those pictures are awful - awfully funny!! i'm a little surprised that there's a picture of me in there, considering i didn't know him that well back then, but oh well! man oh man, we're all so tiny and so little in those pics...by golly, it was about 10 years ago! eek!

i was supposed to go and cook dinner for tim (a guy from kcf, not poopy) because he's got a broken leg. i was dead tired and it looked like it was about to rain on me. so i rescheduled with tim and i went home. i was so tired, but then i'm getting really sick of not having binders for my notes and just piling them all in my clipboard. you'd THINK that given TWO WEEKS, he woulda bought me binders by now?! it's not like it's out of his way, considering he WORKS at staples! grrr.....i got so fed up that i just went there myself. he got me 15% off, so i saved a whole $2!! golly gee whiz...i'm wondering if the savings was worth my time in having to go there to buy my own stuff, and i'm thinking no.

came home, ate dinner, and then fell asleep. woke up, organized all my nice new binders, and decorated them. i was missing sonja while i was at staples, so i bought gel markers. teehee, i couldn't resist...they're great on binders! one note tho, i bought one hard binder with the clearish plastic cover, so i put pictures in it. then i used the markers on the clear plastic, and it doesn't come off. just a note for those of you with those gel markers and are thinking of using them on that type of plastic.

and yes, here i am. it is 2am, and i have to write my one-page review of spectrogram websites now. i also have to figure out how the entire voice system works. what the larynx does, how it works, what part of the throat vibrates, learn the names of the throat parts...yeesh, really, when am i EVER going to know what an "epiglottis" is?!

and on a side note, john, if you're reading this, i'm glad you're studying mechanics, cuz if you were studying meterology, you'd definitely be in the wrong field. he told me last night that it'd be windy and cold today, so i didn't bother shaving. john, 27 degrees plus humidity is NOT "windy and cold"!!!!

stay tuned tomorrow for more fun and hijinks, all in a normal zet-wednesday.

what a GREAT day! it started out ikky cuz i had to work, but i think i managed to get a fair bit done. it was raining and ikky when i came home, but such is rain. i did a few things like tidy my room, wash the dishes *gasp*, cook rice, etc. i called tracy in london (swindon) to say happy birthday, but she was out with friends, so thankfully i kept that one short. uncle came home with two nice big crabs, so i helped him clean and prep for dinner. mmm...crab was yummm....
after that, i ended up calling people. i called bigjon to tell him that it was cool for him to stay here next month when he comes for someone's wedding. then i tried to call jon nip, but again, his line was busy. i called john (yes, this is like, 3 jon/john's in a row!), and chatted with him for 10 min. then i tried to call normie, but his mommy said he went to go work out. normie's mommy is so cheery, she just makes you smile by talking to her!! i think i called mike & persila after that. they're originally friends of my sister's, but i mooched them and they're my friends too! i hadn't talked to them in aaaaages, so i called them up! that was awesome, and then i FINALLY got a hold of jon nip, so we ended up talking for ages too! that was awesome! wowee, i could talk to him for hours and hours more! norm then called me back and he had just broken and given in to having pho with me and john, until i realized that today is monday and pho closes at 9. doh. so i called john to say that we weren't going to go, and i ended up talking to him for over an hour too!! at one point, i was giggling about something (possibly about my fascination over killing crabs, and how fun it is to rip their shell off their legs...or is it legs off their shell?). so i was giggling....which made john giggle. if you've never heard john giggle...it's enough to make you...giggle!! so you can imagine the vicious cycle that was going on! the more john giggled, the more i *ahem* laughed, which made john giggle even more. it was quite amusing. john told me that i was so silly. he later told me that he was doing his assignments while he was talking to me, which prompted a conversation about how i find it impossible to talk and type at the same time. john says, "it's very difficult. in fact, sometimes i type the wrong thing. it says here in the middle of my lab, 'you're so silly.'" teehee, i can imagine what the prof would have to say to that!

in any case, i had a very event-filled day (and as you can notice, not much of a study-filled day). the line of the day goes to john. our conversation went something like this. john works at loblaws, btw.
zet: oh man, is that sale on juice boxes still on?
john: no, i think that ended friday.
zet: DOH! i told poopy to buy it last week...it was SO cheap!! rargh!!
john: yeah, $5 a case..it was pretty cheap.
zet: GRRR...i TOLD him to buy it....!!
john: oh...well, don't tell your mom, but there's a sale on toilet paper.

truly, only asian children would find humour in this.

alright, my computer's gone wacky. my cpu usage rate has gone through the roof, and it won't come down off 100%, which is really annoying, cuz everything is slow as molasses.
i went to church, *discussed* the retreat with arum...major headaches there...and then sat around and chatted with tim and eugene for a while, then came home and tried to sort out my computer. i spent the whole afternoon running system checks, defrags, and diagnostics, and i still dunno what's wrong. i've rebooted countless times, and nothing works. it runs normal when i just turn it on, but once i go online, the cpu redlines and won't come down! i was online (icq and msn sorta work, but internet doesn't) for a while and was using some friends as techsupport. guest was sweet enough to offer to come over and see what was wrong with it, but then later called to say that his dad took off in the car and that he couldn't come over. doh. oh well...
so that was basically my day...i spent the whole day battling the computer and it's still not working quite right. and yeah, that pretty much means that i've barely gotten any studying done, rargh!

but on the bright side, i got a few things accomplished. i did some final tweaking on the kcf budget (since that doesn't require internet usage), i called kasmo to see how church went for her (good, but no one went outta their way to meet&greet her), and got a few things sorted out. starting to study for my japanese test on tuesday, and now i'm off to read or something. i feel so empty without internet...i think i'm internet-dependent. in fact, i'm sure of it. i feel so cut off from the rest of the world without reading the daily news and everyone else's blogs! i think my fingers are twitching from the lack of typing instant messages...oh goodness, i'm suffering withdrawal symptoms already! this is so, so sad.... pitiful.

i feel so non-productive. woke up at some disgustingly late hour of the afternoon (that a-word says it all). on the bright side, i was very refreshed. i think by thursday every week, i'm running low on the sleep-bank. i checked up on emails, got the rundown of the kcf exec meeting that went on without me, tweaked the kcf budget a bit, and did little things of the sort. the next thing i knew, i was msn'ing with kasmo and phill, and later with kalun as well. the next thing i knew, it was time to leave for city-wide praise night! agh!! there went the whole afternoon!!

so i went, and it was packed as usual. ran into renee (from waterloo)...man, she's in ottawa for like, her THIRD workterm?! she must love this place! this girl came up to me and was like, "hi, you look really familiar to me..." and i said, "you're in my linguistics class!" so that was neat, i met a girl from school....actually, i met a ton of ppl from school. i went up to mark (the IV prez) and before i could even say hi, he said, "we have carrots!" yes, quite the interesting greeting, isn't it? now, before you think mark is a real quack (altho he is!), it's because mark works at the loblaws near my house. i complained to him last week that they don't often carry baby cut carrots in the 2lb bags. they only have the little bags, and i usually end up eating that in one sitting! he told me to take it up with the produce manager. when i went to loblaws on wednesday, i saw 2lb bags of baby carrots, and i thought to myself, "wayta go mark!" turns out their store got audited for something, and the person said they needed to carry the 2lb bags, so at least until december, they'll always have the big bags!! woohoo!!

we all left and went out to ESD and chilled. there were SO many of us that we took up the entire wall...i sat on the end by the door to the washrooms, and our table extended to the window! i couldn't even see the ppl at the other end! oh well, met some more ppl...including the guy i always see but i've never met...the guy with the magic music bag at city wide, who usually either plays sax or flute, but could quite possibly be anything else he pulls outta his bag. it was pretty cool chilling with pretty much complete strangers. actually, i think one of the guys picked up a homeless dude on the way, and the guy came to eat with us (like, all 30 of us?). i thought that was really nice, and we all chipped in for his meal. so yeah, now that i'm home, i should do some work, after pretty much squandering my entire day. doh.
