wow, those are all such wonderful comments you all wrote about me!! ooh, what an ego boost!! well, actually, it's because i got two not-so-nice descriptions yesterday that made that the million-dollar question of the day. it's awful, cuz the two not-so-nice ones were the same comment by two different people, altho adrian immediately retracted it and said he was joking. i suppose he's forgiven.

i'd also like to call attention to the fact that JON NIP has come out of hiding and posted on my blog! by golly, i think the last comment i got from him was back when my blog was pink and green, and he answered the then-million-dollar-question of which band sung that song that i was hung up on. (answer: audio adrenaline). jonny dear, everyone at carleton misses you dearly and would really like to know where you are and if you're still a drummin' maniac. on a side note, last i heard, cc4c is on the serious lookout to buy a keyboard, *giggle*.... look at the void you've left in all our lives!! i'm half kidding dearie, i really hope you're having a blast out there, and school certainly isn't the same without getting bashed in the head with your bike helmet, avoiding the garden-spot because mr. iron stomach got sick from the food, and unwitting comments about how you can't cook (which you later went on to prove, thank you very much!). by the way, that picture of your culinary talents is now famous. i think it's part of cc legend now: it was posted on the cc poster during the frosh week info tables. i certainly hope you're not cooking for poor greg....well, no desserts, anyway. : ) in case you can't tell, yes, i miss you!

i had a pretty awesome day today!! i went back to work today, and found that we got a new computer. on my desk! that made things very cluttered, since it takes up a lot of space and i didn't have much to begin with. oh well. i caught up on a whole lot of work, caught up on the lives of my coworkers, and while we were laughing, we got yelled at by puddy who was in a snarky mood all day. yeesh. i was trying to ignore him, cuz i really felt like slugging him at one point. aside from him, all was fine and dandy.

i went home, ate a bit, then ran back out to school for a campus-wide praise night! okay, HOW awesome is that? how many schools can say that they had a praise night in the middle of the unicentre?! huh?! we had a bunch of ppl go up and introduce some of the clubs that are on campus, and i had about 2 min notice that i was going up to say something about kcf. people laughed, and i think it was at stuff i said, and hopefully it wasn't at me, so that was good. not bad for 2 min notice and making it up on the spot! after that, we jammed and sang real loud, and then we interceded for carleton.....man, that was awesome! definitely really moving. so we all stayed around and chatted and mingled for a while. i met a bunch of new people (stop laughing, all of you!), and one dude was interested in checking out kcf this week...nice!! so yes, i'm quite hyped up now.....woohoo!!

happy mid-autumn festival, everyone!! oooh, look at the bright shiny round full moon!!

it's official. *sigh*...i skipped my first class of the year this morning! i woke up in plenty of time to get to class, but my head hurt. i debated with myself over the "i should go" and the "i'll feel better if i sleep in!" arguments, and unfortunately, the sleep side won.

so i went to school, went to my other 2 classes, and chilled around until kcf at 7. i shared about why i like doing what i do and why i'm there. it went a whole lot faster than i intended, because we were basically finished in an hour! so i went out to eat with eugene, sung, ellia, matt, and vincent. it was yum, and most of the boys ended up walking me to elgin and waiting with me for my bus. how sweet!

that was basically my day in a few sentences. the question of the day is, "how would you describe me to someone who didn't know me?"
thanks to all those who kindly commented (including *george*....remember that i have sitemeter and i can tell which isp those comments are coming from. i don't have many avid readers who use BT, hun.) ; ) please answer the question of the day as you see fit! maybe i should ask a question every day and see what kind of answers i get?

why has no one commented?! i like comments... how come everyone's stopped? even my most faithful commenter didn't comment (johan, that's you). gee....does no one like my stories anymore? :*(

typical wednesday today. 8:30 linguistics class, where we talked about what language is and then watched a documentary where they taught sign language to chimpanzees (in particular, one named washoe and one named lana). they were so cute! after that, nam so kindly drove me home! so i ate, msn'ed, made some phone calls, and napped for about 2 hours. went back to school again for phonetics class at 5:30. the first part was mostly a physics lesson about sound waves, frequency, amplitude, resonance, harmonics, etc.... with the most amusing question of the day being "....so under those conditions, does sound travel faster?" i guess it's not very nice to giggle, because someone obviously did not take grade 12 physics. then we looked at spectrograms, which is like those things you see where you talk into the thingy and it shows all the waves produced by your voice. these wavey patterns show the sounds of the words you're saying...so what we did was learn what patterns go with what kind of sounds. eventually, i'm gonna have to be able to look at that sucker and just be able to read from the waves what the person is saying...also be able to tell accents and recreate them! for example, the spectrogram we were looking at was of a british person saying "she came back and started again." my argument is that it depends on WHERE in england the person is from, but in general we took *started* as sounding like *st-aw-ted*....in my experience, ppl from northern england (newcastle, hehe) would say it more like *stoh'ed*, much like the way they say *stottie* like *stoh'ee* whereas we would say *stoddie*... fascinating stuff!

john picked me up after class, and we got patty and went someplace so patty could indulge himself in his vices. ran into abe, which was...amusing...as always. went to get norm, and met up with ppl for wings, as is the wednesday tradition. today, we started to throw coasters at each other and tried to catch it in our mouths...much like a dog catching a frisbee, altho i'm not sure i like that comparison. on my first try, i was pretty close. so close, in fact, that i cut my lip pretty good. ow.

alright, it is late and i should sleep. i like comments!! please comment!! it makes me feel like no one's reading, altho i can pretty much tell when ppl like ben or sonja read my blog. ; )

overall, a pretty good day. classes and then chilled at oliver's (one of the on-campus bars, for those of you that don't go to carleton). went home and changed, cuz albert and joanna and i were going to go out for dinner. when i got home, i found a small parcel had come in the mail for me! yaaay.....kasin had sent me stuff!! she sent me belated Christmas and birthday presents!! y'remember those mr.men characters? well, she sent me a plush doll of Mr.Christmas! he's a green triangle guy, and looks like a tree. hehe... she also sent me one of those wooden signs of your name, altho it wasn't quite my name.....hehe. i couldn't quite figure out where to hang it, and i didn't think it would hang well on my door, so i ended up sticking some tacks into the plastic frame of my mirror and hanging it there. i guess that's kinda my UK corner now, cuz right above my mirror is the winnie the pooh picture thingy that hunney sent me for my birthday last year! the coolest thing that kasmo sent me was this itty bitty picture album! it was pictures from before, during, and after my trip to UK last summer! but they had each been shrunken to a size a bit smaller than a credit card!! it was SO cool!! i never knew you could develop all those pictures in such a small size, and plus find a photo album for them! sooooo cool...thanks kasmo!! by the time you read this (if you ever read this), you'll prolly be in toronto and we can talk on the phone much more often than before!! ; )

eventually, jo, bert, and i made our way to the casino for dinner. bert's dad had dinner vouchers, so it was pretty cheap. bert had the buffet, and jo and i split escargots and we each had pesto pasta with roasted scallops and salmon. it was okaaay. good thing it was real cheap! after dinner, we walked over to the new casino hilton to check out these chandelier-things that jo was telling us about. they were COOL! they're not actually chandeliers in that there are no lightbulbs inside. but they're these giant thingies that hang off the ceiling...just tons of assorted pieces of blown glass in all different colours. it almost looks like a psychadelic flower in some way! you'll just have to see it yourself!

so that's pretty much my day. got an 8:30, gotta go to sleep soon.

thrills of all thrills. you would think that on a monday where you didn't have class, you wouldn't go to school. had a 15 min meeting with a prof about my linguistics group assignment. we're going to write a paper about spoken syntactical errors made by second-language learners. we can either choose to gather data from say, people of all native languages that have been learning english for x time...or something like using ppl that all have the same native language and get ppl who've been learning for different numbers of years. it's sounding kinda cool! i sure hope my group turns out to be cool. the good thing is that if we as a group feel that one person isn't pulling their weight, we can kick them out!! woohoo!!

chatted at the unicentre for a lil' while, and then i went to south keys. i was very good about not going into any stores...until i hit chapters! actually, i went into loblaws briefly to find out about my pc account. those dummies. you'd THINK that if you apply for a mastercard and you TELL them your debit number, that they would just automatically link those accounts?! is that too difficult of a concept? appears i have to call them to arrange it. great. i hate calling toll-free help numbers. anyway, nothing good at chapters, so i went into winners. eek. i found this nice long denim skirt for $25, so i went and tried it on. blast it, the darn thing fit pretty nicely. : ) but i decided to forego it (since i'd also bought a $45 book from someone today...worth $78 in the freakin' bookstore). i put it down and walked outta there fast before i could change my mind. went to globo (no good shoes), then wal-mart. wal-mart got me good. not only did i buy a bunch of expensive neccesities (toothbrushes, body wash, contact solution, etc.), but i found this giant pillow! it's a big square heavy pillow, perfect for sitting on the floor. i've been kinda looking for something comfy to sit on to do QT, but josh thought i'd fall asleep on a bean bag chair. well, this was cool and only $15! all in all, i busted a whoppin' $80 at wal-mart. *sigh*...i'm getting more and more poor. must work soon. paycheque good. bills bad.

came home and fell asleep watching the news, but not before i saw bunny on the news! he was driving a golf cart full of kids that got to play with the sens!! those kids were cute, i hope bunny had fun! i napped until sonja called, yay sonja! and soon after that, some crazy swede called...i have no idea who he was, teehee. ate dinner, wrapped denise's bday present (had to call christine to confirm denise was turning 17), spent time making phone calls to various ppl to organize a get-together for jo's bday on sunday, etc. yikes. now i'm on icq and sonja and i should be doing linguistics homework together. the gals that study together....umm...yeah. anyway, i've got a kanji quiz tomorrow, gotta study!
hrm, not much exciting today. i woke up earlyish, and made breakfast! now there's a concept! i had 2 slices of toast with strawberry jam (homemade jam...carmen's home!). i was still hungry and still had time, so i had 2 more slices of toast and i fried up 2 eggs (over easy, of course). i went to church, then went for lunch with eugene and josh from kcf. we went for vietnamese food, and when we walked in, there was a whole table of like, 10 or 12 korean ppl. we got stared down, it was (somewhat) funny. i had chicken, beef, and pork on rice. MMMM...with a red bean freeze, too!! MMMM!!! i went home, and was gonna go blade with bert, but i was just too tired! i took a nap, then tim (from kcf) called me and we chatted for a bit. later, someone called to inform me that the social democrats won the vote again. i'm not too sure how that affects my life, but i'm sure it does somehow. ditched him when albert and joanna came over, and then we sat around and watched the simpsons. by the time that was over, we realized that we didn't have enough time to rent a movie, so we went to oh so good in the market instead. i've had strawberry shortcake both there and at elgin once. the one there was good, and elgin was bunk (i think norm can also attest to the bunkiness of the cake at elgin). so i thought i'd take a chance on the cake again. it was kind of a make-it-or-break-it chance. if it was bad, i'd never order it ever again! but it was okay, so i think i'll keep it as a market-cake and not an elgin-cake.
so all in all, today was a good eats day. norm, john, and i spent a while on msn trying to figure out when we can have dimsum. our schedules are not very agreeable. it is disconcerting. on the bright side, john is telling me on msn that i am worth more than two cows and a goat. take THAT, normie! cows can't bake bunk pies, so there!! i told john, "i'd like to see a cow bake!" and he said, "isn't that a roast?" teehee...

wow, i thought today was going to be a boring day... woke up, called kasin and talked to her for over an hour! i'm so excited about her coming to canada, woohoo!! i also got all the latest newcastle gossip!! ;) heehee, just kidding....sorta....*gasp* phill, you never told me!! the nerve!!
studied for a good chunk of the afternoon. well, not so much studied as did some homework. tried to write a page worth of stuff in japanese for my journal that's due on thursday. then i worked on downloading some songs for normie and joanna. diddled around for most of the day, really. xdd called me, which was really nice! yay xdd! i burned norm's cd for him, and then at about midnight, john picked me up and we went to the market to go get norm and joe. they were gooooone... so anyway, we went for pho, as was the plan. on the way there, norm grabbed my head and kissed my head. i'm not quite sure why, but i think it was in thanks for the cd. joe was quite the character while we were eating. he'd apparently learned a whole lot of vulgar vietnamese and chinese words while in victoria, and was determined to ask the girl working at pho bo ga what they meant. we got him to shut up temporarily when norm fed him a chili pepper and joe nearly died. meanwhile, norm planted another smacker right square on my cheek. woohoo, i won't be washing that spot for a while! ; )
eventually, we finally got joe to finish his food and we got him home fairly safe and sound. normie was tired, so we took him home next. by the time we got to normie's, i got yet another smacker on the head! that's THREE!! norm has NEVER kissed me before... i've definitely gotten tons of hugs for baking him pies or making him almond jello and whatnot, but i think i'm still in shock over this.... i've known normie for about 8 years, and i'm flabbergasted. don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining, i'm just in shock. gosh, i never thought he'd be so appreciative of a cd... i guess my pies and almond jello were never good enough to merit any more than a hug. :*(
hehehe......normie, you're awesome!! don't ever change!
