my day technically started when i woke up and called in sick. i know michelle's prolly gonna kill me for this, but i couldn't quite walk into work and give everyone my cold! so i went back to sleep and later woke up at the crack of evening. *grin* i actually feel a LOT better, so i guess wasting a day in bed was worth it. diddled around a bit, then watched a movie that byron lent me. sprited away, an anime movie made by the guy who did wonderful movies like laputa, nausicaa, kiki's delivery service, lupin, and TOTORO (one of THE best anime movies EVER!). it was a nice feel-good kinda movie, and it even had lil' soot-balls like in toroto!

diddled around a bit more, then got dressed and went out to the cock&lion, where ppl were kinda saying bye to joe. joe's gonna hitchhike to BC, stay there for a little while, then go to japan for about a year or so. i actually didn't get to talk to joe much, altho i was hoping for the picture op of him passing out (and what would be done to him if he did so). lots of old lisgar ppl were there, as well as a whole ton of brookfield ppl. this guy that i met claims that normie beat him up in junior high, and then kara had to go with the guy cuz she's known him longer, but i had to go with normie for the same reason. normie, to the best of his knowledge, does not remember beating him up. i admit that this accusation casts a new light on a side of norman that i did not know (and you'd think that after 7 years you'd kinda know someone!).

but yeah, the cock & lion was fun! a good night. i finally got a *normie special* - a cranberry and orange juice mix. normie got tired around 1, so some of us called it quits. john drove bunny home, then norm, john, and i went to mango's for shawarma. i finally got to go to mango's after hearing from EVERYone about how yummy their shawarmas are. my verdict is that their shawarmas are quite tasty. in fact, i'm still kinda hungry, maybe i shoulda gotten 2? the garlic sauce was pretty good, but i'm thinking that shawarma deluxe in the market might have garlickier sauce cuz it almost burns going down. mmmm.....

yay mom and uncle are going to toronto for the weekend! and it's so sad because i have no wild and crazy plans aside from maybe watching the boys play ball tomorrow and going for dimsum on sunday. anyone wanna go spectate some bball tomorrow?

i woke up feeling the sniffles. "uh-oh," i thought. i knew it as soon as i woke up that i'd caught a cold. darnit! anyway, i went to school and sat around the unicentre in a bit of a daze, waiting for vincent. finally found him, and we went for our appearance before the funding committee. i talked and hopefully made a good case as to why they should give us (kcf) money. after that, vincent and i went for a coffee and a bit of breakfast before he forced me to go to class. i dunno if the class was on pause for me or what, but he was only about one page further in the notes than when i last went to class about 2 weeks ago!!

ran a few errands during break, then went to japanese class only because rob was supposed to be presenting. he got it extended til tuesday, and then class was class. byron gave me a ride home, which was nice, cuz i was feelin' pretty sniffly. but then i had to run to loblaws to pick up a few things, and on my way home, normie called me! so i walked over to meet him since he wasn't far, and he came over to eat his shawarma. it was wonderful quality time, which i haven't had with normie in too long. we even got to have a spot o' tea together, too! nothin' but normie's fave! whee!! and we had the best laughs while we were waiting for normie's bus... i asked what he would name his childa, and he said "martha." i then asked if he would name his son "stewart." (for those of you that don't know normie, he's a big fan of her show). he also thought of some other horrible things to name his children, the kind of name that you could never forgive your parents for. i said, "wouldn't your wife have something to say about that?" his solution to that is to wait til she's asleep before he files the naming documents. teehee, what a guy!!

when norm had caught his bus, i went home and started working on stuff in the kitchen. made mashed potatoes, a veggie platter, a ton of veggies, and just got things prepared for the kcf invasion. wowee, we had a turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli & cauliflower, cranberry sauce, gravy, fresh buns, and i forget if we had anything else. i think i had 12 ppl over, which i guess is quite a bit! we watched some good ol' hockey, and eventually turned that off to play mafia which was amusing as always. out came the black forest cake for tim's bday (which was yesterday). mmm mmm mmm.... one of the girls had to go back to school for the korean radio show, so she got picked up and everyone else who lives in rez took the ride too. that left me and 8 guys! if this were about 2 months ago, i'd be really happy cuz i would've broken the record, but alas, the record now stands at 9. we chatted for a while, and then everyone took off. all in all, it was a REALLY fun night and i'm glad everyone could come over!!

now it's just me and my sniffley self and i have to work tomorrow. bummer. an even bigger bummer is that i got a ton of mail today. none of it good like it was the other day. the worst one was the one that says that it's time to pay up for my 2nd term of tuition. auuugh, i can't believe i got the thing so soon!! i haven't even gotten osap yet!! turns out i "didn't submit the sheet with parental signatures" which i'm SURE i did, because i KNOW i got my mom to sign the papers. so those guys at the osap office lost my documentation. GREAT, those papers have my social insurance written all over them!! just great.....now i have to wait for the papers to come again, sign them again, and submit them, then wait for weeks until i get my money! augh! well anyway, aside from that and the sniffles, it was a wonderful day!
happy thanksgiving weekend everyone...let's not get all caught up in the turkey and food, and remember to be thankful for something!

woke up at 8:30. thought to myself, "wow. class starts now. perhaps i should get out of my nice warm bed. *snooze*" so i got to school around 9:30 and felt stupid walking in an hour late. so i leisurely went for a muffin and tea, then walked in when the class took a break at 10. we were watching movies all class, so maybe i should've just stayed in bed. i went to loblaws again on my way home, then napped from 12:30 until 4! what a wonderful nap! got up, went to class again, then went for wings. a nice leisurely wing night, and then home. what a non-interesting day. the only funny part of the day is that john tried to lock me in the car and tickle me to death while we were waiting for normie. luckily i managed to escape and run away! how evil is that?! he also accused me of being a pirate...man, john is one strange, strange fellow. his nickname is now "giggles" and everyone may henceforth refer to him by that name.
actually no, there was another funny to today. conrad called me asking if i was going to wings, which i was. he asked if i had any fishing wire at my house. i said, "umm...maaaybe, that depends on how much you need! like, enough to fish with, or to make a necklace? could you use floss instead??" (this is where i thought of sonja and kalun at cocm on earlsfield road and chuckled to myself...JeWeLLeRy!). conrad was like, "FLOSS!! what a great idea!! you're SO smart!! my toilet broke, and i needed a quick fix, but floss would work awesome, okay, never mind about the fishing wire!" so when john picked me up from school, i told him the story, and he says, "oh, is it the chain that's broken? i have one right here!" and found a toilet chain right in that little nook under his parking brake. so i called conrad back and offered him a brand new toilet chain. he was completely baffled as to why john had a spare toilet chain in his car (of all places), but we gave it to him anyway. even went to look into the toilet to see the patch-up job he'd done with the floss (very pretty). i think even now, conrad is still flabbergasted about the toilet chain (and i'm sure many other ppl are too).

on a completely unrelated topic..... just thinking about friends and friendship. who i consider a friend and how far i would go for them. you know who you are, you know how i feel (and hopefully you feel the same way), and you know how much i would be willing to do for you (and sometimes *to* you, teehee). when you're sad, i'm sad with you. when you're happy, i'm happy for you. hugs are a wonderful thing.

INTERNET IS GLORIOUS! 19" monitor is WONDERFUL! DSL is AMAZING! optical mouse is FANTABULOUS! music is SUPERB! and oh, how i missed my 256 ram....i was starting to have seizures or something and i felt so disconnected from the outside world.....oh goodness, i hope i don't have to go through that again! frank is a knight in brilliantly shining armour! turns out my power supply was shot, so he came by with a new-and-improved sucker..this thing is a monster! seriously, this baby has heavy-duty wires and a fan-speed adjustment knob for those hot summer days! woohoo!

so today i couldn't get up for japanese history. again. rob laughed at me. told byron that "this brainchild came over with coffee and donuts for my brother last night....." yeesh. hey, not like he didn't want us at his house! oh well, i studied about 10 min for a japanese quiz and i got one itty bit wrong, so i figure that's about a 19.5/20. i got last week's quiz back and i got perfect, yay! hear that john?! PERFECT! BOOYA!

did a bunch of groceries on my way home, prepping for the kcf invasion on thursday! ooh, i love cooking for ppl. i dunno about for loads of ppl, but i still love cooking! i talked to tiz for a long while before i went down for dinner, and then frank came over and got the computer running again. oh man, the withdrawal symptoms were getting too much to bear! let poopy have the computer for a bit while i did some laundry and stuff, and i've been catching up with the world for the rest of the night! i also got to watch phill's slide show, and except for one day's worth of cyprus pictures, they were great! all 200+ pictures...with narration!! no wonder it took him so long to put it all together, eek!

and to answer two very long comments from yesterday's blog.....
hun: no, it's a different eugene. this one is from KCF. and btw, .....when you said those pics of you and jimmy were dodgy, i didn't think you meant THAT dodgy..... i don't want to know whose *clothes* you borrowed...and if they were mine, i certainly wouldn't have wanted them back after what you did...... aside from those, the pics were gorgeous!
johan: shepherd's pie is essentially mince and mashed potatoes, often with corn or some other veggies in the middle. you can have it with or without a pie crust, but we went with the pie crusts, cuz it's tasty. that and the boys don't have a baking dish. i had mince, corn, and mashed potatoes, and had it loaded with gravy.....mm.......so yum!
what's wrong with opening up a computer?! it's not like i was fiddling with ALL the wires, yeesh. and even the one that i took out, i put it right back!
and there's a special reason for ludacris, which perhaps i will explain to you over msn. : )

okay, getting hungry thinking about it! off to do some *real* work! let it be known that ZET is BAAAAAAAACK!!!!!

dinner was funny. VERY amusing to see two guys (i mean, neanderthals) to eat shepherd's pie. not off a plate, the whole pie. i started to get plates out when they were done, and eugene was like, "what're those for?!" i'm like, "plates? pie?" he goes, "we don't need those! hey tim! you can eat a whole pie, right?" tim: "yeah!" eugene: "we're eating the pies." so here i am, sitting with two guys, i'm eating my pie off a plate, they've each got a whole pie in front of them. i just dumped gravy on their pies, and tim couldn't even wait to say his prayers and dig in! within 5 min, tim had his belt off and his button undone! i guess i'll take that as a compliment...? he was even wearing a beater, so he looked even more like a caveman! sooo funny, esp cuz eugene takes massive bites (he's one step away from being able to unlock his jaws!), so their last bites were a bit of a contest to see who could swallow more. their mouths were SO full they couldn't talk, but they kept trying to laugh...tim even spewed a bit out, which was unfortunate for me, because i was sitting directly across from him. "in the line of fire," as eugene said. aiyaaa... all in all, it was a very nice evening. : )

soon after i got home, the doorbell rang, and i could hear a ton of ppl downstairs. turned out some of the guys from church came to help us move our old fridge out to the curb!! woohoo, it's about time we got rid of that thing! and since we had a trio of electrical engineers over, they thought they'd take a look at the computer. their official answer is that it is NOT the switch. it's likely a problem with the power supply. we called up frank (who built the darned thing) and frank said he'd be over tuesday night to play around with it and figure it out! woohoo!! wei said that i was "dai daam" (i had guts!) to go and open it up as much as i did, esp cuz i also fiddled around with the power wires and stuff. i took off the entire casing and the front panel, too. i was like, "why so surprised?" but i guess he figures that i was just poking around (which i somewhat was) but he was kinda impressed that i did that and tried to figure things out on my own like that. woohoo, point for arts student! well gee, if i don't do things myself, how am i ever gonna learn?! i can't expect to always call nerds on site (they exist, btw) for 24/7 help!

today i went to work, checked my email from there, and got an email reminder that today was the deadline for handing in funding applications for school clubs. some not-so-ladylike words went through my head, because i'd COMPLETELY forgotten, and my forms were at home. so i tried to finish up the work that i had goin', which took until 1:30!! rargh, again, statscan is evil. i bolted home, ran in, grabbed my mail, picked up the form, out the door and just in time to catch the bus to school. ran to the computer labs, typed up the application and the report, found an error in my budget (insert more unladylike words), fixed it, printed it off and pieced it together and ran to hand it in before the 4pm deadline. got all that stuff accomplished, and then decided that i deserved some food. grabbed a pizza, and ate it in the unicentre while i read about phill's trip to cyprus. all THIRTY pages of it! thanks hun, you're nuts, but boy does cyprus sound gorgeous! just imagining while i was reading was a nice little mini-vacation in itself. i'll watch the slide show as soon as frankie gets my computer up and running - this ol' machine doesn't have powerpoint, much less any capacity with which to run a slideshow! i'll make sure that kasmo sees it too! : )

i gave up on trying to study, so i headed home. i stopped at billings for a while and was going to do groceries. actually i was going to have coffee with john, until he decided to be too sick to go to work today. therefore, it is his fault that i wandered around the mall and happened upon $20 corderoy pants. i went to loblaws to deposit the gst cheque i got in the mail (today was a GREAT mail day!), and realized that the place was BUSY! there were NO carts and NO baskets, so i went and was gonna grab a basket from the checkout, and it was just packed with ppl, so i gave up and went home.

i called norman to see if he'd like to join john and me for a coffee and/or ice cream later, but he has two essays due tomorrow. so i went and worked on this sign that my mom asked me to make. the fellowship lunch sign from church was getting worn out, and they'd raised the prices, so i said i'd redo it. i laughed to myself when i saw that the back of the old sign said "fellowship lunch" in language...son, you're the greatest! so i worked all evening on the new sign, when john finally called. he was waiting for me to call, and i was waiting for him to call. wayta go on both our parts! so we went out, and we did our good deed (??) for the day by bringing normie coffee and timbits. after a while, rob and andy came home, so john and i chatted with rob for an hour or two while norm worked on his papers. very interesting norm stories we heard, indeed. teehee, what a cutie! "hey norm, go pick up that crab...don't worry, crabs don't bite!"

in other news, it seems that norman has given me a new nickname. ludacris, sheesh. i should just pretend it doesn't bother me, and then the boys won't bug me about it!! okay, and MAYBE i can see your point on ONE of them, but certainly not FOUR! grrr.... oh wait, no, it doesn't bother me....

normie, if you're reading this tonight, right click that little icon with the two computers in your systray, select the "disconnect," and go back to writing your essay. i know it sucks, but i've never known you to give up, so don't go about doing it now, okay? you'll be fine, i know you can do it.

i hate this non-computer thing. i am presently sitting at tim & eugene's place mooching eugene's computer while he washes the dishes. : )
so yesterday (saturday) was interesting. i woke up nice and late, cleaned my room a little bit, then went to church. there was a mandarin student meet & greet at 5, and fred had asked me to spread the word. i told one girl in my phonetics class about it, and she said she'd go. so i felt bad about not going if she was going, so i went too. i showed up just in time to help my mom cook up some huge amounts of food. i kinda felt bad, cuz after the food, the ppl got dragged into some talk of some sort...i guess some lady gave her testimony or something, but it sure sounded boring. maybe woulda been less boring if i'd understood, but later my friend admitted that it was pretty boring. oh well. talked to pastor james for a bit and then went home. he's doing a paper on the silent exodus, and said that he might use me for info, woohoo! so yeah, that was my evening. i watched tv when i got home, which was quite the abnormal activity for me.

today i went to church, then went to school for a bit cuz tim had to drop off a paper. went from there to billings, where tim, eugene, and i did some grocery shopping. we ended up with a cart FULLA food (including a giant bag of cheezies for eugene!) and between the two, they spent about $100 on groceries! oh well, we lugged it all back to their place, where i am now. tim broke his leg, so i promised to cook him dinner. eugene just moved in, and so he gets to automatically cash in on this dinner deal too, heheh. we had tons of groceries, and tim even carried a whole load in his backpack, cuz he needs his hands free for crutches. ;) anyway, i think eugene's almost done dishes now, so i'd better get cooking!! blog more inna while.....
