An outlet for frustration, bursts of love, and outright crazyness!

Well, I taught my first class today. Well, the first class of MY class and not subbing for someone else. It went okay, I think. A little bit all over the place because things went faster than I thought. Either that or I just talk too fast. I'm pretty sure I just talk too fast and now I'm paranoid that no one understood what I was talking about.

I went to bed around the normal time and just tossed and turned because there are a zillion things going through my head. I gave them some options as to what I could teach them: Canadiana, shopping, supermarket, telephone etiquette, pharmacy, emergency, banking, hospital, etc. Some of them picked a couple of the more essential ones, the ones required for survival, so I'm going to start with some of those. Now I just can't decide which one. I'll figure it out. I spent the last few hours shooting ideas through my head, like, "oh, I forgot to tell them this" "I should've explained that differently" or "I hope they like me." At about 6am, I'd had enough. I certainly wasn't getting any sleep, and I may as well write stuff down while I remember. That, and I had to pee. I hate having to get up in the middle of the night to pee!

I was told during our staff meeting that there's an AGM coming up around the end of October and it'd be nice if our classes presented something (ie a song or skit) to the board members. Wow, this doesn't sound at all like sunday school classes singing to the congregation at Christmas or Easter... Anyway, I'm sure plenty of other classes will sing something typical like "O Canada" so I was trying to find some other sort of easy Canadiana song. Short of the Logdriver's Waltz (Then I'd have to teach the history behind all the logdriving) and Land of the Silver Birch (too much boom-diddy-boom stereotypical Native Indian sounding stuff...really, it's a bunch of old Chinese folks), I really can't think of any. I don't see God Save the Queen as being a fun one either. I would consider Frère Jacques if it weren't in French, but there is an English version to it. I might end up going with that. Why are there no easy non-cheesy Canadian-y songs out there?
