yaaaay, normie is coming back this weekend!! i am very excited! y'know what else i am also very excited about? that i get to practice the following phrase:

"my boyfriend works at BMW!!"

that's right folks, john got a full-time job starting in like, 2 weeks at none other than bavarian motor works! i'm so happy for him! much more exciting than him getting a job at the GM place...the address was 444 (you chinese ppl will understand my apprehension at this), and it was right across the street from the grassy view of beechwood cemetary. *shudder* anyway, if you see him, congratulate him! LoL... and no, i doubt he gets a company car. ;)

so i emailed dick & carolyn yesterday between classes to ask them if they were ok for the hurricane. for those that don't know, they live in raleigh, N.C. carolyn wrote back saying that they're fine because they're a bit inland, but might have power outages or something. btw carolyn if you read this, i'm sorry to say that i doubt many people in ontario will be too sympathetic.

anyway, one thing i must say about carolyn is that she's awesome! i think she kinda shares my quirky sense of humour...i'm not sure whether to rejoice in that or be scared. put it this way: when i was in UK, i stayed at my friend phill's place. phill's family owns a butcher shop, and there was this cardboard box sitting in his attic labelled "premium quality british beef." i laughed SO hard that i asked phill if i could cut it out and bring it back with me. he had no idea why i thought this was amusing. in fact, it didn't seem that ANY brit thought it was amusing. i was so relieved when i went to cardiff and told carolyn about this and she laughed heartily. is it just that british ppl don't find this funny? anyway, back to my email.

so carolyn went on to tell me some kid stories...for those that have never met stuart and ethan, you don't know what you're missing. one of these kid stories was the funniest thing i had read ALL week...then again, since i've been reading stuff like "ESL Teaching Methods," "Systems of English Grammar," and "Kinship Terminology in Historical Russian"....maybe that wasn't too much of a stretch. sorry carolyn for not obtaining permission to post this, but it was much too funny!

i bought a box of 'Life" cereal for the boys. have you heard of this cereal? anyway, they'd never tried it before. stuart tried it and liked it right away. ethan was (as usual) more skeptical. after watching stuart devour his bowl of cereal, ethan tried it and liked it. he didn't finish off the whole bowl i had given him, however, and when stuart noticed that ethan hadn't finished his, he asked, "hey mom, can i take ethan's Life?"

hahaha....stu never fails to amuse me!

wowee... let's see...what has happened. i got a job with elections ontario to count votes for the upcoming election. aside from that, i don't know anything else about it. i just called, left a message, and they called me back telling me to go for an interview.

i think that's the biggest news for now. ooh, i hear mike upstairs (i'm at john's house)....i'll blog again in a few days.
