Blurbs By Zet

An outlet for frustration, bursts of love, and outright crazyness!

the past few days have been filled with much business and much studying. ick. had our work *Christmas* party tonight, which had its moments. i forgot that my birthday is coming up, so i was surprised by a giant cake and a birthday card. actually, there are 3 of us whose bday is in march, so between the 3 of us we blew out 20 candles on a 30-piece black forest cake (gooo costco!). mmm... but here i am again and i'm faced with the dismal reality that i have a paper due monday. thank God the term is almost over....but it really does feel like the year has zipped by.

watashi no ichiban suki-na kawaii petto gorira....omedetou gozaimasu!!!
i always knew you could do it - so proud of you, no one deserves it more.

well, today was a much less-cranky day. woke up and went to my super-early class, which i wouldn't have gone to had i not had a quiz. the *quiz* was this: answer 10 of the 15 given questions. we had just over an hour, it was open book, and we could leave the room. so eventually 8 of us ended up in baker's lounge madly trying to get this done. now, it sounds easy, but the questions were long and required some crazy diagrams. managed to barely get it done, and that was that. i was a complete zombie for most of the day because such is what happens to zet when she does not get enough sleep. dragged myself through japanese class, where rob finally gave his speech about mac & cheese. he kept laughing at me all day because he said i was being silly (on that note...normie, if he tells you about anything i "allegedly" said...just remember that i love you!). came home, and slept WELL (finally) until i got up and went to john's ultimate game. i kinda half watched and half read, so it was okay. went for pho after that, which is always quite the experience on thursday nights.

...i have the cure for hiccups!

a very cranky day. woke up at the crack of nearly-dawn and went to my 8:30 class... AT 8:30! after that, i walked around in a zombie-state until socio at 1, which was a complete and utter waste of time. came home, ate, and tried to nap but was repeatedly interrupted by people intent on not letting me get some sleep. i was constantly interrupted at about 30-minute intervals so just as i managed to doze off, i was woken up again. got up fairly cranky, but i called patty (wong) to say happy birthday. my goodness, that boy is 19...i feel old. it was amusing tho, as soon as he was like, "it's suzette!" his mom grabbed the phone and had a 5-min chat with me before she remembered that i was calling to say happy bday to patty and not to her. teehee. that was followed by a quick wing night and a short chat with john before coming into the house. i'd promised him that i'd get some studying done and that i'd sleep by 1:30. hmm, clock says 12:17 and i haven't managed to study yet. in my defence, i was sorting out important emails and having as much of a heart-to-heart as you can over msn with a certain loveable dragonfly.
right. the day in a nutshell.

wow, that was a long blog. anyway, life has been fairly mundane in the past few days. school and not much else. really didn't do much yesterday, and today i went to class and then came home. john came over after he was done classes, we moved the laptop from my room to the basement so i could do work while he took a nap (can't have him sleeping in my room! *gasp* what would mother think?). john and i got suckered into making dinner, so we ate quick and then went to his house, where patty joined us for smallville. what a letdown, another re-run. and we missed the first few minutes because john's tv can be a bit wacky and today it took a full 10 min to warm up and get picture! we missed the best part, where lex bashes a car with a golf club! my back was hurting (too much time on the computer, hehe) so i got a backrub which promptly put me to sleep for about an hour! and after watching some more tv, we all called it a night.

so while john was sleeping, of course my mind wandered while i was doing my work and i ended up surfing the net a lil'. here i was going around thinking that i had 3 final exams when i really only have TWO! linguistics and japanese history! they're on the 21st and 22nd and i now forget which is on which day. japanese is an in-class final, sociolinguistics has a final essay due on the 11th (the day before exams start), and computational linguistics has a final project which he says he'll make due in may or something ridiculous like that. so all in all, things are very spaced out (much like i will be, i'm sure). but i am definitely not complaining, don't get me wrong...can't believe school will be over in a month, this year has zipped by so quickly!

and speaking of another year... *sigh*... i think i'm getting old. i think it really hit home when we saw a commercial for that new pooh movie. well, piglet, actually. after the commercial, patty goes, "i wonder which of the 2 ppl in this room will be the ones to go see that?" which was somewhat sad, because just as he said that i said to john, "oooh, can we go see that?" to which he replied "sure!" so i suggested that we take john's 2-year old niece to see it so we wouldn't feel as silly. patty laughed. i don't think it's that funny... maybe we'll get lucky and have the WHOLE theatre to ourselves much like another cartoon for which kasin and i were made fun of for seeing... *ahem*

ahhh... life is rosy. thursday has come and gone, and i can relax for a day or two. i finished my term paper at 5am, napped for 2 hours before waking up for my 8:30 class in which i had a presentation. the presentation went well, considering none of us really knew what we were talking about, yay! i spent an hour and a half after that fiddling with my term paper before handing it in...man, you'd be surprised how much gibberish makes sense when you're short on sleep! so i did it a bit better and brought it to the history dept drop box...and somehow ran into my japanese teacher 15 min before japanese class. now, ordinarily because i was so tired, i woulda just gone home. but it was rob's day to present his speech, and i felt it my duty to point and laugh. i mean, support him. that and the teacher saw me just before class. well, whaddya know SOMEone decided to skip class!! grrr... so i came home and tried to nap but i was really restless... i think i was wired. john came over and kept me company, and eventually i was able to nap for a little bit before going to watch his ultimate game. after that, he helped me return my 50lbs of library books. went for pho, and chilled with the pho bo ga girls...man, they're a riot.

friday was a dull day at work, and i even went in to work late so i could catch up on a bit of sleep. i unfortunately had to miss kcf friday evening to go to a funeral. i guess it's really true that you don't miss ppl until they're gone. ... . . . . . thank you for always giving...you have definitely left footprints in the hearts of at least two girls who will never forget all you ever did for us and taught us.

saturday i bummed around all day and did things that were put off for much too long. i did some laundry and finally vacuumed my room...ooh, the cleanliness of the floor makes me so happy! john and i spent our evening having dinner at empire grill with joanna, albert, toshio, steve, and james. after that, we (except steve) went to le skratch for some pool. i think the highlight of that was zet vs. joanna and having the 4 guys sitting and watching us. they occasionally cheered whenever we made weird shots, which led me to believe that they were betting on us. i finally won the game, but upon some interrogation, john told me that were indeed betting on us. apparently, james had declared "scratch in 5.5 shots!" so they counted. the first scratch came in 5 shots, which led to some cheers. the next scratch was 6 shots later, which explained why the guys stood up and cheered for us. eventually, john had to go pick up his mom, and the rest of us went to denny's for ice cream. very enjoyable time, chitchatting and whatnot just like old times. :) good ol' peoples...

sunday for some reason my alarm clock went off an hour late, even tho i DID set it for the right time. so because of this i ended up missing church (greeat). i got up later in the afternoon for a group meeting and then spent the afternoon doing not-all-that-much. did a few schooly things, but my brain really wasn't into it, so after dinner i went to john's house. we rented patch adams, and that was about it. very good movie, a little sad, but very good.

so yeah, a pretty brainless weekend for me, considering my brain hasn't been in good shape until now. wonderful. :)
hope everyone has a great week....

oh yeah, before i forget... a zillion happy (belated) birthday shout-outs to:
