An outlet for frustration, bursts of love, and outright crazyness!

Well, it was quite the week! As most of you know by now, the secret of the faces was that the Brits were here!! Phill and Kasin from Newcastle, and Debbie and Jimmy from Manchester came to Ottawa for the week and stayed at my house! YAY!!

They got here Tuesday morning after having their flight from New Jersey cancelled and staying a night there. After they got here, we walked along the canal and down Elgin to downtown around Rideau and the Market, with the requisite stop at Beavertails. Then we walked all the way home and John picked us up and then we went for a buffet dinner at the Rideau Carleton Racetrack. $9.99, baby!

Wednesday, we went for pho lunch with Cal, and they all seemed to love it! Jimmy ate an XL and could even have eaten another small! Then we went shopping at St.Laurent (mainly to eat Beavertails) and went to John's house for a big pasta dinner with Pat, Trevor, Dave, Norm, Lane, and Abe. Pat's reaction to Kasin no longer being a "Useless Brit" was somewhat amusing. :)

Thursday, Bunny, Pat, and Dave came to the Hershey factory with us. We stopped in Carleton place for ice cream first. Jimmy topped us all by getting a cup of every flavour they had (she couldn't fit in two of them tho). He later saw a tofu-container size (meant for hand-packed sizes) and wished he had ordered that instead. The factory was quite fun, as we could see the machines churning out the peanut butter cups, mmmm..... No one was hungry cuz I think we were all full from ice cream and chocolate all day, so we ended up going skating in the evening. We skated to Fifth Ave., where we all ate some Beavertails. Do you notice a trend yet?

Friday, we shopped all day! Went back to Rideau and the market, but after lunch, we were all too full for Beavertails *gasp!* Then we went to Salem, where everyone's combined purchases have just given me almost enough points to earn a $10 discount on my next visit... We stopped at John's sister's house to chill, rest, and snack, then off to Bayshore, where we spent the rest of afternoon walking around and buying stuff! For dinner, we took them to Shawarma Palace on Rideau, where we all pigged out on huge plates of garlicky goodness. MMmmm.... On the way back to John's, we stopped for gas and a car wash. Apparently, they don't have touchless carwashes over there, so we did one just for fun...they were quite impressed. At John's, we all ended up passing out and just staying the night.

Saturday, we went for DimSum and Yangtze and then suited up for tubing at Edelweiss. We had a fantastic time zipping down the hills! They all wished that they had something similar in the UK! On the way back, we drove through the Market where Kasin innocently said, "hey, aren't we near the Beavertail shack?" hehe... Then we went to the Works for some crazy burgers and came to John's house to do laundry. It was pretty late by then so we all just stayed over again.

Sunday we woke up, went to church, then went for pho again because they liked it so much. Went back to my house to rest and pack, and play some nasty Uno. As they say, there are no friends anymore when it comes to Uno! Poor Phill got most of the brunt of the nastiness! We had an ultimate game at 9, where I think I played the game of my life! One huge dive in the end zone left me with some stinging rug burns (unfortunately I missed the disc), I scored 2 or 3 points, and had some big D's! Wow! After the game, we met up with Cal, Chung, Jean, and K.Tim Lee for siu-yeh at ChuShing. We went home, where I promptly took a shower, and when I came out, I found that everyone had nastily HIDDEN all my Tango cans and made me go on a scavenger hunt all over my house to find them again!! Heehee, it took me a while, but I finally found them all! By then, we were all tired, and took a 2-hour nap before waking up at 4 to go to the airport. It was a quick goodbye, but everyone was too tired to make it a long and drawn out affair.

All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic week with us learning new Brit slang like "innit?" (isn't it?), "proper", "razz" (pronounced *rozz* means something like wow, fantastic), and a whole host of others. We miss them already. :(
