I have dubbed yesterday "Take your gf to work day." I've been SO bored sitting around like a stump on a lump all week. I complained to John the other day about just how bored I've been, and he said, "well, you could come to work with me tomorrow!" I've never been so happy to voluntarily do work!
I woke up at the crack of dawn (7:15 - I usually wake up around 10) and headed out the door with John. We got to work, and his boss was just dumbstruck that I would volunteer to help out. Anyway, instead of the car that John was supposed to do, we had to go boost a delivery guy's truck, so we spent the first hour doing that. I started to organize the parts room (what I had initially volunteered to do), and I moved around all the alternators and starters. John and I worked together and organized a bunch of thermomostats, rubber hoses, and other weird and wonderful parts. Working together for about an hour or two, we organized about as much as John had done on his own in a whole day. Then I helped John repair a muffler, and replace some coolant, and before we knew it, it was like 2pm! We drove down to Subway for an expensive lunch, ate, and then John got a Kompressor in and worked on that until it was time to go!
Boy, the day passes by MUCH faster when you have stuff to do, and you feel so much more productive when you wake up early and do stuff! His job is actually kind of neat, and I hope I didn't get in the way too much (John said it was nice because he actually had someone to talk to all day). We spent pretty much the whole day harrassing his boss, tag-team style! I really had so much fun, I might just volunteer more often! I thought about going today, but John's probably busy today and I didn't want to get in his way. Maybe next week. :)
