An outlet for frustration, bursts of love, and outright crazyness!

Well, since I'm still sick, I'm still house-bound and bored to death. I got stir-crazy yesterday and went out to South Keys to meet John after work. It then proceeded to rain on me. :( Still with the good ol' Buckley's. To answer Carolyn's question, Buckley's is a horrendous-tasting cough/cold syrup. Their actual ad tag line is "It tastes awful - and it works." They ADMIT to it tasting awful!! They run contests where you can submit your "this is gross" stories and pictures of your "Buckley's face"....I think I should submit some pictures. Really, I think the whole reason why Buckley's potentially works is that the taste just knocks the sickness right out of you.

I got a pleasant surprise today! Woke up, turned on the computer, and the first message I got was from Yan, Kalun's sister. She's all the way in HK, and a complete 12-hours ahead of me. So again, to those in disbelief of Kalun's sister, I say she exists!! In any case, I've also been meaning to add her to my list of blog links, so surf on over to Yan's blog. She's teaching English, which is exactly what I'd like to be doing over here, if only I could find a job. Speaking of which, time to hit up the job banks....

I keep forgetting to post this, so I will make it my priority today. Some of you may remember our good pal Jeremy. He always was quite the overachiever, especially after going to geek camp...I mean... Shad. Anyway, he's now in Kenya trying to produce a viable business model for poor farmers...or something like that. It's so detailed that it's over my dumb head. :) In any case, I'm sooo proud of him that he's doing such humanitarian work in his own little mathy way. He's started a blog about what he's doing, so go and visit and see where he's been for the past little while (and drop him and email and see where he's been for the past coupla years!).

Anyway, other than that, I'm still sick and I'm still housebound. What a depressing thought. I look like Rudolph, my nose is so red. Oh, and fear not...John bought me a new bottle of Buckley's. Mmmm...Buckley's. Tastes awful, and....tastes awful.

Well, it's been a busy busy week. My sister came home on Wednesday, and my convocation was on Thursday. That was mildly exciting. My mom came with Uncle, my sister came, and so did John. It was nice to have SPAM pictures together again, and I think the SPAM pics will look nice in the pewter frame my mom got me as a grad present. For those that don't know, "SPAM" is what my friends and I call ourselves...we're the group of girls that are always giggling together at the back of the classroom... Suzette, Pam, Alison, and Monica. Nothing to do with the meat in a can. :)

Thursday afternoon, Chris rolled into town, and that evening we all went out for a family dinner. Thrilling as usual. After dinner, Susan, Chris, and I went to their best friends' house for coffee, which was nice until I realized that I am now allergic to cats. Maybe it's because they have two cats, but it's odd because I don't seem to be allergic to my own cat.

Friday we went out shopping all day then went home for yet another friendly family dinner. Our ultimate game had been cancelled due to the rain, so after dinner, we all went out and met up with some old friends for dessert. After that, John and I went to the Cock & Lion to see some other friends and we had a jolly old time, especially if you include the little episode where some unnamed person had their underwear crammed into their pocket for some unknown reason.

Saturday was the big day! After months of preparation and emailing and shopping, we held my sister's shower at her friend Evelyn's house. There were about 10 people, and we did the usual shower stuff. Played some games, had a tea party, and opened presents. The tea party bit was quite nice, as there was some tasty banana bread, scones with Devonshire cream and jam, fruit tarts, and sandwiches. I'm a big fan of cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches!! All in all, a jolly good time! By the end of the shower, Chris and Peter came home, so we (my sis, Evelyn, and I) stayed for dinner and then the boys were off to "play pool" and Ev was told not to wait up for them....uh-huh. I fell asleep on the couch, and when I woke up, Susan and Ev were just chatting away, so we ended up talking until 2am!

Needless to say, Sunday was kind of a tired sort of day. We went out for lunch at the Works, where John joined us. Then the 6 of us trekked off to St.Laurent where we found some nice lip liner and lip gloss for the wedding. That was pretty much it, and then Peter & Ev drove Susan & Chris off to the airport. John and I came back to his house, where we had another bbq with his family.

Of course, in all this busy-ness....I am now sick. I've got some snifflies coupled with some wheezies and the coughs. John has been funnelling Buckley's down my throat, but thankfully there's almost no more. I'm afraid of him coming home because I think he's going to buy me more. :(
