good day. i was even somewhat productive at work!! surfed all day for information and have to spend the next week soaking it all in so that i can sound intelligent when i meet with a (potential) client next week. i'm getting sucked further and further into this whole economics thing.

came home, napped ever-so-briefly before i got a rather long-distance call. surfed around for a while, before jack and vincent asked to bask in the luxurious coolness of my basement. and watch a dvd while we were basking. i finally got to see the usual suspects!! and at last, the question of "who is keyser soze??" is laid to rest (sort of). at least i learned the real spelling, and not that of whoever was playing hangman back in grade 12 english who spelled it "kaiser sose." and thanks the the marvels of dvd technology, we get some insight that we prolly wouldn't have gotten had we watched the movie over and over again (ie. how he sees *kobayashi* and what "keyser soze" really means in german and turkish). very neat, very clever movie (altho for some strange reason, it reminds of the score. i can see why it was (or still is) one of rockie's faves.

my question of the day is "do i have a good phone voice"....?? y'see, someone at work said that her bf said i had a nice phone voice. and someone else recently said that too (altho i can't remember who right now...). i think i sound like i'm 8!! how is it a nice phone voice?? even telemarketers still ask to speak to my parents! and speaking of voice, a funny thing happened a few months ago. about 3 times in two weeks, people at school who were walking ahead of me (i didn't even see them) stopped and waited for me just to say hi. now, that was very nice of them, but they always said, "i heard you coming, so i stopped to say hi." is it that my voice projects that far, cuz in some cases they were about 100m ahead of me, and there were a lot of ppl going thru the tunnels. or is it that i have a very distinctive voice?? most ppl i brought this up to said that my voice was distinctive. jo tried to turn it into a compliment by adding that lots of ppl out there are famous for their distinctive voices, like ja rule. great example... now i feel like macy grey (phill, if you do your impression and think of me, i'm gonna kill you). i dunno, i'm feeling very self-concious about this now.....i'd take a vow of silence, if only that wasn't totally changing everything about me! LoL..... please comment on this......is my voice just super loud, or distinctive (and if so, is it distinctive in that i sound like i'm 8)?

addendum: just read norman's comment about why everyone calls him "normie." i can't speak for everyone else, but i call you normie because...well...actually, you KNOW why i call you normie, and you don't like it. but rob agrees with me, so there! heehee....

today was a fairly normal day in the grand scheme of things. got to work on time, and spent most of my day reading a parliamentary committee report (thrilling, i assure you). spent a wad of money in my 30-min lunch break... $20 sending a box to tiz, more on phone cards cuz i haven't called UK peeps in ages, and blah!

after work, went to scratchyland (otherwise known as jadeland...ask me if you want the full story) with jack and vincent for a very slow dinner. we were very full, so we walked it off....all the way to pure gelato! LoL, that was some yummy gelato! went back to the boys' place to catch the hockey game, a pox on the av's...game 7 is too much suspense! also flipped (as only jack can) between the basketball game and the miss universe pageant.

i don't understand the concept of pageants. the politically incorrect term is a beauty contest (ever see miss congeniality?), but yet it still IS. we managed to catch it at the point where 10 women walked around in bikinis. like really, what is the point in that? i bet the 5 that got cut probably think they're too ugly or imperfect to be miss universe. cuz lookin' at those women walking around half nekkid, i'm pretty sure that some of their bodies have been, shall we say, enhanced. but even if they haven't been, it makes me sad to think that people actually do things like that to their bodies. does it really make you feel any better about yourself? at the end of the day, you're just the same person you always were, plus a few plastic gobs. so you might get more attention from guys. but if that's the kind of attention you want, and if that's what you have to do to get it, is it really worth getting? if you can't live with who you are without having to change your physical appearance, it just makes me really sad. that's my half-deep thought of the day.

note to johan: i like your comments. i'm also glad that i've been bookmarked! i don't mind your *long* comments, so keep it up. you can even guest-blog if you want!! i've only ever had one guest-blogger (who has since declined to do any more blogs cuz he has nothing *interesting* to say......c'mon normie, you're in sri lanka, that's interesting enough!).

happy 21st birthday shouts out to jason...one of the best and most entertaining trash-talkers i know! and i think he also wins recognition for having the cleanest room of any guy i know. i don't think he even sleeps in there! in any case, he makes me think, he makes me laugh, he makes me smile, and he makes me mad (frickin' leafs). have an awesome 21st and start the plans for some american road trips!

my monday was très cool. i got off work and went to the kim boys' place to grab my blades. snagged some 1-for-1 pizza slices (see jack's blog) while i was at it. as i was blading home, someone who hadn't called me in quite a long while called. talked while i bladed, and then made him call the landline when i got home. so i talked to tiz for a few hours hehe, and then proceeded to do nothing all night. very nice!

"nothing" consisted of icqing and then getting caught up reading lord of the rings (return of the king) until i-have-no-idea-when. so i woke up this morning, looked at the clock, realized it was 10, and hustled my butt to get into work!! pretty normal day at work. i brought tiz's package to see how much it weighed and how long it would take to airmail the sucker. so the thing would cost me a little over $20 and about 2-3 weeks to send it. it's not as much the money as the time. darnit, should've sent this thing sooner...! alas, 6 days til his bday (it's the 4th, johan!). since i didn't get in to work til 10:30, i worked til 6:30, and then went to see star wars episode 2 with albert. i think it was good that everyone panned the movie: i went in with NO expectations, and as such, i thought it was okaaay. certain scenes rate VERY high on the corn-o-meter, but i suppose it was to be expected. i think i've been very critical of cheezy movies lately. but really... c3p0's lines in the arena were bad one-liners ("this is a drag" and "i'm beside myself!") that only james bond would say, and even then, it's okay for him because he's 007!! i suppose it explained a lot of future story lines, so in that it was good. meh, i wouldn't pay to see it again.
went to local heroes after the movie with jo, and altho we all meant to chat and discuss things, the lure of the nba and nhl were too great. and so ends the mighty leafs. it actually didn't sound like anyone in there was cheering for the leafs; the exclaimations of joy were pretty loud when the canes scored in OT. switched to lakers/kings after the hockey game, and watching it made me think of rockie. good ol' doug christie (and vlade divac, altho i REALLY don't see the resemblance). miss you, dearie... watching *you* on tv's not quite the same as having you here. that night at normie's was definitely something we should do again sometime...watching sports, talkin' smack, balcony cooler, deep n' delicious (eating it with chopsticks is better!)....much fun!

i really like the comment thingy (big thanks to son)! i think about 90% of the comments have been from europe (england, wales, norway). très cool! i think johan is also my most devoted commenter, so shouts out for that! normie, it would make my day if you commented from ceylon! ; )

anyway, determined to get to work on time. jo commented that "they haven't fired you yet?" for me being late so many times in the past month. i think today was the 3rd or 4th time....la la la la.... off to sleep!

saturday was unimpressive. stayed home all day (spent most of the day in bed, actually). jack called around 11, so i went to ESD with him and vincenzo to have heart-attack-on-a-plate. i think those are the only poutines that i actually like! after that, we played some pool at maclaren's, during which i won all the games i played. yay!

today was church. after service, jack and i went to chinatown and ran into tommy & associates. i don't think i've ever heard anyone greet jack with a "and how are you, sir?" tommy's quite odd. : ) i bought a birthday present for tiz, and i'm desperately hoping that if i send it this week, it'll get to him in time...! we went to kowloon and bought pork buns to snack on, then went back to church. snacked and chatted, then went to the kim bro's place, where i took a nap until we went to al's for dinner! MMMM....that NY sirloin steak was YUM! thn the boys came over, and so did joanna, and the 4 of us played cranium all evening. girls vs. guys, and of course we won. twice! vincent learned a valuable lesson today: those things that look like tennis rackets on your feet are called "snowshoes."

and such was the weekend in the life of zet.
