(non)wow. i went to work today and stared at a computer screen all day. maybe i was tired cuz i called pak late last night and didn't get to sleep til almost 4am. haha, and i got to talk to naomi as well! oh well, anyway, it wasn't hard work, just required a lot of concentration, which i didn't have today. half the time i got into the groove of doing it, the phone rang or someone asked me a question and the concentration went out the rainy window. so much so, that i ended up staying LATE. working overtime on a friday is not my idea of fun. got home just in time to down some dinner, get dressed and get ready for gym night. i put on a pretty blue sweatshirt, my kickin' orange modrobes, had the badminton racket on my back, when i thought, "hrm, i should check my email in case that academic advisor got back to me..." so i ran downstairs and tried to start things up, but i ended up having to reboot it. it was taking so long that i was about to just forget it and run thru the rain to gym nite. well thank goodness i waited, cuz one of the emails had the subject "gym nite cancelled." phooey.

so basically i've been home all night and on the computer cuz i'm too tired to do anything else. but it's been cool...tim called, so i chatted with him for a while. i promised to go to his place sometime and cook him dinner...shepherd's pie, to be precise. i guess that means i have to cook eugene dinner too, teehee. it's really cool that tim calls me like, once a week! i'm really glad that kcf ppl are cool enough to just call me up and chat or message me outta the blue just to tell me something awesomely silly!!

spent the rest of the night still on the computer. kasmo came online from the internet cafe place in markham. we were messaging about how excited both of us were that she's gonna come and visit me! and i told her that i had to take her to have a beavertail!! i told her that here, beavers are annoying lil' rodents, so we lop their tails off and that is what makes our local delicacy. her response: "oh, i don't like the sound of that.....but i'll try it.....i guess......" man oh man (get that, son!), i laughed. i told her, "and if you believed that, you're going to make me very very happy, cuz that'll be the funniest thing all day!" i don't think she appreciated that... i don't believe her calling me a "cheeky monkey" was meant in jest. teehee!! that's almost as funny as borgee believing me when i told him that canada's so far up north that we have 6 months of darkness in the winter and 6 months of sunlight in the summer. oh man, that was the best one...you know you're gullible WHEN...

so yeah, that's basically my day. thrilling, wasn't it?

alas, i skipped another japanese history class this morning. i hope this does not become a habit. rargh. must make these decisions AFTER i get out of bed, i think. japanese was interesting today, as always. i found out why i got a "crummy mark" on my journal. it seemed everyone was getting the exact same "crummy mark" too, and we couldn't figure it out. so i asked rob how he did on his journal. he goes, "i don't think they were marked, were they?" and i said, "they weren't supposed to be, but everyone got 9/19!!" rob says, "think about that. what date did we hand them in?" boy, do i ever feel stupid now. went to language analysis class after that, where everything the prof said went sailing over my head. i am more confused than ever, but at least i don't think i'm the only one! the whole class seems pretty confused....

hung around with randy for a while until kcf, and then we kcf'ed. byoung was supposed to come, but i only found out last night that he wasn't coming, so we had to play it a bit by ear. we actually had worship, for the first time in about a year! then we had some not-so-conclusive discussions about some controversial topics like abortion and cloning. then we spent some time with the BigGuy (thanks for the suggestion, jack!), and called it a night. a few headaches in planning the queen's joint retreat, but hopefully those will be dealt with shortly.

came home and talked to kasmo for a little while. it was pak's bday today, but since i was at school all day, i didn't get a chance to call him. maybe i shouldn't call and spite him for killing kasmo's fish! and since it is now almost 2am, it is technically denise's birthday!! so happy birthday to pak (too old to tell) and denise (17)!!

i have so much work to do and so little time in which to do it.....eek. i'm not sure this idea of having my planner is working out so well... i don't feel all that much more organized. rargh.

8:30's suck. class. went to work to copy that $30 coursepak. it took me 20 min to copy it, what a rip off. went home, ate jook, and napped. woke up, went back to school, went to some boring lecture, then went to my real lecture, and then out with the wing crew. i ran for the o-train and went to greenboro, then bunny, patty, and kara picked me up at denny's. bunny drove us to the transitway because he was too tired for wings. so yes, he drove me across the parking lot at south keys. we bussed to the pump, waited for norm, met up with conrad, and eventually john decided to grace us with his presence. we had quite the night of entertainment, mainly because norm doesn't seem to understand girls sometimes. thank goodness all his questions and assumptions were directed at kara and not at me. wings ended at a nice conservative 11:30ish. i like.

so yeah, nothing too life-changing today. the stress is catching up to me.....i think i'm gonna catch a cold or something soon.

i would start off by saying that all day today, i felt nauseous. but since i read those comics last night, i must rephrase that statement. there was one comic where the dad says, "i feel naseous." and his son corrects him by saying, "no dad, you mean, you feel nauseated. if you're nauseous, then you make other people sick." the mom walks by and says, "he had it right the first time." so yes, i felt nauseated. i felt pretty darn crummy, but i had to go to school, so blah.

went to history class, bundle of joy as always. he spent the first half of the class explaining the different japanese writing systems, so i doodled and ate my breakfast (mmm muffins!). i have to admit that the prof's japanese is quite good (for a non-japanese person) - his writing and his knowledge of the language proves that he has made considerable effort to ensure accuracy at all levels. he's got my respect. especially after that asian studies class in high school, oh goodness, this is such a welcome change from mr. "i'm ignorant and i don't care but i'm retiring this year so as long as i get my pension i'm happy".....ugh. words cannot describe the way that teacher butchered the beauty of japanese and chinese language and culture.

ran into eric in the caf, and he tried to get me to join the taiwanese student association. yah right. found menh-the-guest and we chilled at his favourite place - the computer labs. whee. wrote my japanese quiz, i think i did well on it... i got my quiz back from last week, 19.5/20, woohoo. yeah yeah, where's the other .5, right? stupid mistake, grr. got my journal back too...i can't believe i got such a crummy mark, rargh! oh well. language analysis was just brilliant, esp after she popped a surprise quiz on us. it wasn't for marks, we just took it up verbally, and she said it was to guage for ourselves how we were doing in class. ugh, time to hit the books. went home after that and tried to nap, but ppl kept calling every time i was almost asleep! and then someone kept msging me on msn, so i had to get up and turn my speakers off (turns out it was sean bai telling me about some visiting choir from korea and asking me if i wanted to go). my mom and uncle had gone out to dinner, so i had to make myself dinner when i woke up. then mom came home alone, and hahah, uncle went with everyone else to break open the mj tables, heheh.

yeah, that was my not-so-thrilling day. oh, found out i'm getting $5K for osap. woohoo. in 4-6 weeks, the debt thermometre will slowly be climbing up to over $16K.....now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to go hang my head over the bowl now... :*P

ps. yay slide show!! you're the best, hun!! *hugs*

pps. while i was making dinner, i saw a slab of pork sitting in the fridge, so i decided to make some jook cuz it might soothe my tumtum. we have a special pot that's kinda like a self-powered slow cooker, so i just opened it up, and it's THE most gorgeous pot of jook i've EVER made! the consistency is just beautiful, wow, it couldn't be better!! it's PERFECT!! ooh, i'm so proud of me! i just added the pork and thousand-year-old egg and chucked it back into the cooker, so i'll have some YUM breakfast tomorrow! oooh!! yay me!

my day was almost looking productive. woke up bright and early and went to work. had enough of work at 2, so i went to school to get some articles from reserves, and i hit gold! i found one set of reserves that's like, 12 pages of comic strips! talk about non-reading! now the trick is to write a one-page summary of this non-reading... i stopped at billings for a while on my way home. now, the sad thing is that i went in with the intention of paying my bills and such. upon finding a few sales, i promptly forgot about my bills (meanwhile racking up more) and now i'm gonna have to stop there again tomorrow and pay those stinkin' bills. grr. a pox on billings. i went to the natural store to get some cracked wheat for salad that i know my mom is going to ask me to make. that 15cents that it cost nearly broke the bank. then i found this accessory shop with hair stuff on sale for $1 each. 5 assorted hair clips there... and on to loblaws. mini-muffins, oatmeal cookies, cheddar cheese (because uncle said last week that he liked cheese, i figured i'd get him some), and a cucumber. turns out my mom had the same idea, because she bought giant muffins on her way home too. oh well, more muffins for me.

came home, checked mail and news, and fell asleep. slept for 3 hours and felt bad about it because i have a ton of work to do. however, i suppose it's allowable because....it just is. anyway, time to stop procrastinating and hit the ms word. so yes, basically, no real life-changing revalatory thoughts today. much like most other days....i think my brain is stagnating.

what can i say about today? went to church, and while i was waiting for the bus to go home, this car turns the corner, stops, and waves at me. i actually thought he was waving to someone else, but he was waving to me! i'm like, "who's this white dude wavin' at me?! must have the wrong person..." he then opened the door and told me to hop in! that's when i realized it was my friend tyler (otherwise known as ler) from work! i haven't seen ler for a month, cuz he kinda quit and went back to school! but it was cool, cuz ler gave me a ride home, yay!

waited for albert to pick me up, and in the meantime called kasin to make sure she was still holdin' up okay, and then i called liz to wish her a happy bday! albert and annie came to get me, we went to get a birthday card for joanna, and then we met up with jo, toshio, and james at the miniputt place. i stink at miniputt, and that is all we shall say about the matter. we split up temporarily after miniputt, because steve needed albert's car. halfway down merivale, i realized that all the cell-phone ppl were in one car, and all the non-cellphone ppl were in the other. so stopped at a red light, i handed my phone out the window to joanna. we went to albert's house to give steve the car for half an hour while the older hu's and i bummed around. we eventually met up with tosh, james, and jo again, but right when we did, tiz called and toshio answered. i think tosh was happy to have actually been able to talk to tiz, cuz he was all like, "i got to talk to HIM!!" meh, nothing special, hahah!! anyway, we went to medithéo for dinner. i had a very nice penne fume, which was penne, chicken, artichoke hearts, and sundried tomatoes in a rose sauce. MMM, doesn't that sound yummy, Phill? (how's that for a plug?) james had the same and liked it very much; i thought it was quite good, but james was much more vociferous in his praise. i was pretty full, but i couldn't resist dessert! i would've gone for the crème caramel, if i didn't think that vincent could make the same. so i got a chocolate banana cream pie, which was quite yummy. i tasted a bit of joanna's crème caramel, and yeah...it's the same as vincent's. vincent needs to make some more sometime, i haven't had any in about a year! mmm.... we finished at 10ish, and headed home, because we all have school or work tomorrow. bleh. all in all, it was quite the fun night. we need to have more little get-togethers like that again.

happy birthday shout-outs to joanna (21) and liz (22)!! certainly can't forget each other's birthdays, huh? : )

quite the uneventful day. woke up cuz joanna called, but 5 min into talking with her, kasin called too. figured things out with kasin a bit, and then i called bigjon to help me find kasin a good church that's near her place. the poor girl has NO internet (how archaic!) and i think she's feelin' a bit lonely. :*( i so wish i could be there every weekend. alas.

woke up and did laundry (got that, denise?), and started on my zillion-and-five things to do today. i think i got about 5 things done and a zillion left to go! i msn'ed mr.norway for a bit, then talked to mr. sweden for a while. i think i nearly blew his ears out, because my mom was being SOOO frustrating that all i could do was complain to poor tiz for at least 20 min straight. aiyaa... i managed to write an article for the church newsletter (i'm not sure it's very good, but it was certainly motivated, after that awesome praise night yesterday). i also re-read the kcf constitution to make sure that it still applies and that i can hand the same papers in again. i tried to diddle with the budget a bit, but that needs to wait for another week or so, until i can weasel mr.park for money. i called this lady to find info about the campsite booking for our joint retreat with queen's. then i had to email all that info to anna, the prez of queen's. got some basic info for a one-page thingy that i have to write for phonetics class. i organized my notes a bit, sorted some computer files, typed up the the ccco nursery schedule for november - february, gave tommy some suggestions for his major project (which i think is REALLY cool and i wanna be the one to test it out!), sent a birthday email, icq'ed pokey (who's in taiwan and i haven't talked to him since june), among a ton of other things. not to mention that we had guests over for dinner (uncle's son and daughter in law), and after that i actually washed the dishes, thank you very much! and just because i HAVE to make note of what we ate, we had tiger shrimp, chicken, roast duck, gai lan (my fave choi...no tommy, that's not you), and some other stuff that was too far away for me to get a lot of since i was sitting at the end of the table. for dessert, we had hunneydew and longans, and i think some mooncakes later, but they're not my fave. soon after dinner, i found that i'd gotten an email from JON, woohoo. my enthusiasm was somewhat quashed when i realized it was a mass email, but it was cool enough. he mentioned that he was writing after i'd threatened his life. i'm slightly offended by that - in no way did i ever threaten his life. perhaps a limb or two, but not a life!

and for some reason, this day sounds incredibly packed, but it wasn't really. somehow i think i spent quite a bit of time playing text twist (tommy & ben, you guys are evil), and then tiz introduced me to some fish game. i can see how the fish game would get addictive, but since i killed all my fish, i'm not gonna bother trying to get good at it.

5 real tasks down, a zillion to go. they include the likes of my reading assignment for linguistics due on wednesday (for which i have yet to read anything), a japanese quiz on tuesday that i need to study for, research for my term paper that i need to start, writing that 1-page summary about what a spectrogram is, finalizing the kcf budget, and finishing my application for osap. rargh. so much to do and so little time to do it...i'd take a course in time management if it didn't take so much time out of my day!! : )
