good news: as of september (or actually, as of right now), i will be in second year applied language studies (linguistics) honours with a minor in japanese. i like the line at the top of the sheet that says, "basis of admission: OSSD/OAC's" phew....glad they looked at those and not my existing marks. i'm also glad i got into honours, which i wasn't sure if i'd get.

the little envelope with the confirmation in it was waiting for me when i got home from work. the good news ended weeks of worrying and stress...
however, other news i got later in the day was not-so-good and made me drop all thoughts of linguistics. it also ended months of worrying...now just sad. i've been told that i can at times be eloquent with words, but this time there are no words. *hug*

you asked for a mention. how about this? something i dug up from the depths of my hard drive.
i know i call you names (numerous times....every hour....), and yes, you come up with stupid ideas...LoL.
but i know that underneath the silliness, you really do care (whether you want to admit it or not!).
thanks. : )

there i am,
waiting for you to meet up with me.
i think of our friendship,
and what it is to be.

i think i haven't felt like this in a long time,
the comfort,
the security,
the laughter,
the shared joy of Knowing.

i feel a strange connection with you,
something indescribable;
i can't quite put my (long) finger on it.
is it the excitement?
the enthusiasm?
the willingness?
again, maybe it's the Knowing.

i think you're one of the best people to talk to;
we can talk and laugh for hours and hours on end,
then we get off the phone and head straight for ICQ!
it makes me happy to know that we're such close friends.

but i know it's not just the talk.
i'm glad you can trust me,
i'm beyond being the 'gossip queen.'
trust is a risk required of friendship,
but above all, trust is reciprocated.

i feel there are so many things left to tell you,
so many things left to share.
things i want you to know,
things i want you to hear.

i think you are well on your way to becoming one of my few 'best friends'
a title few hold.
it's kinda scary, in a way.
yet justifiable, and almost meant to be.

i feel you have fasttracked what others took years to acheive,
and in a way perhaps surpassed even them.
you are not just someone to laugh with (soap)
or someone to laugh at (chopsticks)
but rather a confidante,
and a good one, at that.

and at last, you walk up to meet me.
hiding behind my shoulder, waiting til i turn around.
'i was wondering when you'd notice me,' you said.
i wondered how i could've not noticed you...

but i'm glad i did.

spent most of today nodding off at work. dammit. i hope that package of papers i worked on for a certain premier won't have crazy mistakes because i wasn't thinking straight....oh well, i was told that province/territory doesn't count for much anyway. ; )

went on a downloading binge after work today. looks like i've gotten about 45 files tonight, prolly about half of those at adrian's suggestion. he recommended one song and the deal was that if i liked it, he could make me get 5 more. he went a little recommendation-happy. i'm rather liking musiq soulchild. halfcrazy. catchy. too catchy.

tempted to hit a bunch of walls today. john was telling us last night that he punched clean thru the wall and got his arm stuck in there...it was rather amusing. i was wondering if i could do that too, but then i didn't think my boss at work would appreciate that, and i'm sure my mother wouldn't appreciate me putting holes thru our walls at home. besides, the walls in my house are unusually solid. i think i'd break bones before i break wall. that's unfortunate. i need a punching bag. for anyone that was in our high school coop class (prolly just rockie would remember), remember my mock interview when i said i work out my frustration by punching something out? i think it's one of those times...!

someone said to me today that he was glad to see that i was happy again. i never thought i could hide it that well...maybe he just doesn't know me well enough yet. hrm. icq works wonders.

my friend matty k wanted a mention and a link. for those of you that like the expos (altho i'm sure most of you don't), check his page. i'm sure it's very good for what it is, but i'm just not into baseball. and if any of you girls out there is interested in a bespectacled white guy who could almost pass for an asian, he's available. i assure you, the chest-cave is very sexy.

i'm sure this entire blog made no sense whatsoever, but i'm basically just blogging for the sake of blogging. blah.

i think i'm a slave to my computer. here it is, 3:40am...i just got home from having midnight pho with normie and john. and here i am blogging. so sad.

normie's the best! fills my day full of laughter and amusement. today he tried to set me up with adrian elliot. again. that was funny. adrian's main selling points are that he's now single (as am i), he's got good genes, he's tall (our kids would be good looking), and he's just generally quite the catch. norm spent at least 5 minutes extolling adrian's virtues... norm also wants 10% sales commission, but i'm not sure how that would work. norm later told me at pho that if i got married and my husband saw the weird welt on my knee from some insect bite...he'd return me cuz i was a defective good. norm said he would demand a dowry. on the bright side, norm pegged me as being worth a couple of cows and some other livestock (however, he is of the opinion that goats are more versatile.....i say they're just as bad as cows because they are still cloven-hooved and are just as susceptible to mad cow).

aside from normie, not-so exciting day. the long-awaited pie & beer (just pie for me) day got cancelled. went to the oak for lunch with jin. again. came home and napped. went for an ice cap with normie. came home and icq'ed and msn'ed. talked to josh briefly. got in an argument with my mom. went for midnight pho to vent and to chill with normie and johnny.

something feels empty lately... i am surrounded by people that i love hanging out with, and heck, people that i just love. but it's in those times that i'm alone that i feel that something is missing. it's not the people...the people are just a distraction from feeling alone.
i think i know what it is, but i don't want to admit it.
it's times like these that i want to work out my frustration. the record is 3 bruised knuckles.
i wonder if i can set a new record.

ohmygoodness, i think ALL my ottawa-readers are going to know what today's blog is about!
let's just start the blog with my saturday morning. woke up nice and late, spent a lot of quiet time, then got to work on my laundry and cleaning my room. the girls were thinking about going out for dinner for vegetarian at the green door before city-wide, but then i realized that i had the house to myself and maybe we should just cook here! in any case, i got hungry around 2ish, and so i made myself an omelette à la pepto (pastrami, spinach, and cheese again). as i was sitting there eating my spinachy eggs, i thought, "man, if i squeezed spinach juice into my eggs, they'd turn green! we should have green eggs and ham for dinner! son would appreciate an idea like that!"

so when the girls (son, denise, carmen) came over later, i don't remember what we were talking about, but it was funny. we joked about actually having green eggs and ham for dinner. then the 4 of us went to loblaws to get some groceries before karen and mary came...and on the way to loblaws, we thought, "hey, why not? LET'S have green eggs and ham for dinner!!" so we went and bought a big chunk of ham. a dozen eggs. we passed the pasta and saw some spinachy ones, so we grabbed that too. and a box of food colouring. grapes (green, of course). also a box of mint chocolate chip ice cream and some lemonade.

went home and started cooking things up! boiled the pasta and mixed it up with spinach, cucumbers, and feta cheese for a nice GREEN salad. i sliced the ham up and baked it, then poured green cream of mushroom sauce (soup) on it.... the eggs were great! beat up a dozen eggs, and had to apply the same food colouring strategy as beer on st.patty's day. had to use BLUE because eggs are kinda yellowy and adding green to it made it look swampy. son cooked them up in a pot, which didn't seem to be such a great idea cuz they started to burn. doh. should've gone here first. oh well, they were still yummy (once we added some salt). add some green lemonade, and all was very yummy!! dessert was mint chocolate chip ice cream, which went very well with the bite-sized brownies that karen brought!! oh, and grapes. lots and lots of grapes. i ate at least 13 of them!

we dashed off to city-wide, where some of us greeted ppl coming in. i was kind of a stand-in, so half the night, ppl called me "pearl." city-wide was good as usual, and i'm getting pretty hyped up about the cry . i knew about it in may, and i'm getting more and more excited for it! woohoo!

and after all was said and done...about a pew and a half's worth of ppl from city-wide came over to my house for ice cream!! LoL!! we finished off the rest of the mint chocolate chip and even some vanilla that i already had. not sure how many ppl were here, prolly about 15ish? i dunno, but it was crowded! people from both MIB's played some MAD deebeedeebeedeep! or, as sonja tried to say it, "i look like an idiot.." 'twas a super fun night, hopefully had by all.

blah. blah blah and more blah. xdd, i know what you mean (however, in a completely different context).
